Penulis empat buku tentang kopi dan editor Coffeereview.com, Kenneth Davids, menghadiri Pameran Kopi Internasional Taiwan 2024 pada Sabtu (16 November) di Pusat Pameran Taipei Nangang.
Sejak 1970-an, Davids telah membantu mempopulerkan kopi spesial dengan analisis mendalam tentang sumber, pemanggangan, dan pencicipan kopi. Selama penampilan publik di Taipei, dia mencatat bahwa perubahan terbesar dalam industri kopi global adalah kaburnya batas antara negara penghasil kopi dan konsumen kopi, menurut CNA.
Dia mengutip Taiwan, yang selama ini menjadi importir kopi berkualitas tetapi sekarang aktif memproduksi kopi. Davids menantikan produksi kopi kelas atas dan terjangkau dari Taiwan, mencatat bahwa kesenjangan antara negara-negara lama dengan produksi kopi dan pendatang baru semakin menyempit.
Davids tiba di Taiwan untuk mempromosikan buku terbarunya, "The 21st Century Coffee Bible." Buku ini mencakup pengalamannya berkeliling dunia dan memeriksa produksi dan budaya kopi.
Davids mengatakan pola produksi dan konsumsi kopi berubah, mencatat bahwa Brasil dulunya adalah negara penghasil kopi terbesar di dunia dan sekarang menjadi negara konsumen terbesar kedua. Davids mengatakan ini adalah contoh lain tentang bagaimana batas antara negara penghasil kopi dan konsumen kopi telah berubah.
Davids mendirikan sistem penilaian Coffee Review pada tahun 1997, mekanisme penilaian untuk kopi yang mirip dengan anggur. Dia berharap sistem pemeringkatan dapat memungkinkan lebih banyak orang untuk menghargai budaya dan kecanggihan kopi, sangat meningkatkan status kopi sebagai minuman.
