The FORCE Of Quality Leadership

By Richard Brody

Perhaps, we should consider leadership, from a perspective, similar to one, which, a Jedi, would, and examine, the expression, Let the force be with you! How else, might we explain, how often, two, seemingly, similarly equipped, and motivated individuals, experience, such diametrically - opposed results, where one ends up, being a great leader, while, the other, merely, at best, a pseudo - leader, or a member of the rest - of - the - pack? With that in mind, this article will attempt, to briefly, consider, examine, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why the FORCE, is such a dynamic element, of quality, effective, meaningful, relevant, and inspiring leadership.

1. Face facts; fruition; future: How can anyone, make any type of significant change, for the better, until/ unless, he stops, burying, his head, in the sand, and proactively, faces the facts, and proceeds, in a realistic, rational manner? Measure a leader's success, not by his promises, rhetoric, or even planning, but, rather, by whether he is able to transform ideas to action, and brings quality changes, to fruition! True leadership necessitates, avoiding acceptance of the restriction of one's comfort zone, and/ or the obstacles of the present, but, rather persists, to look at viable solutions, which address current needs and challenges, as well as the best course, into the future!

2. Options; opportunities; originality: Many pseudo - leaders, appear to believe, they can merely, use the same - old, same - old ideas, plans, and paths, when there is a need for a degree of originality, in order to combine the time - tested approaches, with necessary changes! When one proceeds, with an open - mind, and considers options and alternatives, he positions himself, to recognize the best opportunities, and becomes, the quality, force, for meaningful change!

3. Relevant; reliable; responsive: Leading must not be, merely, about, either, appearing, busy, or even being so, in an irrelevant way, but, rather, proceeding, in a manner, which focuses on relevant needs, goals, and priorities. One's planning must be, both, reliable (actually, as well as perceived), and, consistently, responsive to his organization's needs, and those of his constituents.

4. Character; clever; creative: We need leaders, to be, individuals, with quality character, who prioritize, the common good, rather than their self - interest, or personal agenda! One must be clever, and creative, in order, to earn the attention, and respect, of one's potential followers!

5. Empathetic; energetic; emphasis; excellence: How can anyone, get it done, unless he proceeds, with the utmost degree of genuine empathy, combined, with an inspiring degree of energy, and a consistent emphasis, on excellence, and achieving positive objectives?

Will you become the FORCE of quality leadership? Will you persist, while others, become satisfied, with the same - old, same - old?

Secure Your Internet and Wi-Fi

By George Uliano

I have touched on this in past articles. Now there are Smart speakers with Alexa, Siri and Google built in I thought I would give you some suggestions on how you can protect and secure yourself.

It is important to recognize that all your smart appliances must go through some type of router before getting to your device. The router will then allow you to connect either through hard wire or Wi-Fi. Hard wire would be faster and more secure; however, Wi-Fi is easier and found in more devices. In either case make sure that your router has a strong password that you created. Make sure that you have the highest-level security for your Wi-Fi such as WPA/WPA2. Also, if your router is more than 5 years old you should consider replacing it with a new modern router. This will ensure that you are using the latest hardware and software security.

Smart speakers are appearing in homes everywhere, they were the highest selling in Amazon this past Christmas season. They are good at playing your favorite music and getting better all the time at following your commands. They can control your alarm system and lock and unlock your front door. Before you allow Alexa, Siri or Google to unlock your front door, ask yourself how secure are they. Can they differentiate your voice form the voice of a stranger? What if you left your house and a stranger came to your front door and said "Unlock the Door" would it unlock? Voice recognition is getting better every day, so test your device before trusting it.

Are smart TV's tracking what you watch? The answer is yes, they can. I have written another article that explains how they do this and more important how you can stop it.

Do you have cameras inside your house? Many of us do. Ask yourself are they secure and how do I prevent them from being taken over by some smart actor. That could put you into a very embarrassing situation.

It is important to carefully investigate every new smart device that you purchase to determine how it works and what data it collects about you. Then secure that device within your home network. If you are not sure about a particular device disconnect it from your home network. Remember, most every device that you have in your home has to go through your router, secure it!

Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations

By Martin Hahn

The Wealth of Nations is actually a continuation of the philosophical design started in The Theory of Moral Sentiments. The best issue to which Smith addresses himself is the way the internal battle among the passions as well as the "impartial spectator" - explicated in Moral Sentiments in phrases of the single individual - works the consequences which can be found in the bigger area of history itself, both in the long run evolution of modern society and in terms of the quick attributes of the point of history normal of Smith's very own day.

The solution to this particular issue enters in Book V, in which Smith outlines the 4 great stages of business through which society is actually impelled, unless blocked by wars, deficiencies of resources, or maybe bad policies of government: the initial "rude" state of hunters, a second stage of nomadic agriculture, a third stage of feudal, or perhaps manorial, "farming," and a final and fourth stage of business interdependence.

It must be mentioned that every one of these stages is actually accompanied by institutions suited to its desires. For instance, in the era of the huntsman, "there is actually scarce any property... ; therefore there's rarely an established magistrate or maybe some normal administration of justice." With the arrival of flocks generally there emerges a far more advanced type of social business, comprising not merely "formidable" armies though the main institution of private property with its indispensable buttress of order as well as law too.

It's the very essence of Smith's notion that he recognized this institution, whose cultural usefulness he never ever doubted, as an instrument for the shelter of privilege, instead one to be justified in phrases of natural law: "Civil government," he wrote, "so much as it's instituted for the security of property, is actually in fact instituted for the defence of the rich against the bad, or even of individuals who have a little property against individuals who have not one at all."

Finally, Smith details the evolution via feudalism into a phase of modern society requiring newer institutions, for example market determined instead of guild determined wages and free instead of government constrained enterprise. This later on became recognized as laissez faire capitalism; Smith called it the device of ideal liberty.

There's a clear resemblance between this succession of changes of the material foundation of production, each bringing its requisite alterations in the superstructure of civil institutions and laws, as well as the Marxian conception of the historical past. Although the resemblance is really outstanding, there's additionally an important difference: in the Marxian program the motor of evolution is ultimately the fight between contending classes, whereas in Smith's philosophical heritage the primal moving agency is actually "human nature" pushed by the motivation for self betterment and guided (or maybe misguided) by the faculties of explanation.

The principle of historical evolution, though it's probably the binding conception of The Wealth of Nations, is actually subordinated to the job itself to a comprehensive explanation of the way the "invisible hand" basically works in the business, or perhaps final stage of society. This becomes the emphasis of Books I and II, in which Smith undertakes to elucidate 2 questions. The very first is the way a system of ideal liberty, operating within the drives as well as constraints of human nature and intelligently created institutions, can give rise to an organized society. The issue, which had actually been significantly elucidated by earlier writers, needed both a description of the underlying orderliness in the pricing of an explanation and specific commodities of the "laws" which controlled the division of the whole "wealth" of the nation (which Smith watched as the annual production of services and goods) with the 3 great claimant sessions - laborers, landlords, and manufacturers.

This particular orderliness, as would be expected, was created by the interaction of the 2 areas of human nature, the response to its passions as well as its susceptibility to sympathy and reason. But whereas The Theory of Moral Sentiments had relied primarily on the presence of the "inner man" to offer the required restraints to private activity, in The Wealth of Nations one discovers an institutional mechanism which acts to reconcile the disruptive possibilities inherent in a blind obedience to the passions single-handedly. This particular appropriate mechanism is actually competition, an arrangement by which the passionate desire for bettering one's condition - "a drive which will come with us from the womb, and never ever leaves us unless we go into the grave" - is actually transformed into a socially advantageous agency by pitting one person's drive for self betterment against another's.

It's in the unintended effect of the competitive fight for self betterment that the invisible hand regulating the economy shows itself, for Smith describes how mutual vying forces the costs of commodities down to the "natural" levels of theirs, which match to the costs of production. Additionally, by inducing capital as well as labor to move from less to far more lucrative occupations or maybe areas, the competitive mechanism continually restores costs to these "natural" amounts despite short run aberrations. Lastly, by explaining that wages as well as rents and earnings (the constituent areas of the expense of production) are themselves subject to this very same discipline of competition and self interest, Smith not merely provided a supreme explanation for these "natural" costs but additionally discovered an underlying orderliness of the distribution of income itself among employees, whose recompense was the wages of theirs; landlords, whose revenue was their rents; and companies, whose reward was the their profits.

Bring Back the Invitation

By Laura M Schroeder

No church is perfect. Each has practices I like and dislike. I especially like those who practice the open communion meaning all are welcome to participate. What I miss is the altar call. Granted, when I was a kid listening to all six verses of a hymn waiting for someone to come forward so we could end felt like forever.

We've gotten contemporary music and denominations to accommodate every flavor of styles people are drawn to. What is missing is the invitation for a relationship with the savior we worship.

When I was five, my dad asked if I wanted to go down the aisle. I didn't understand what that meant at the moment. I just remembered the theme song to "Gilligan's Isle". I thought we were going to see Gilligan. When we got to the front, the lady next to me was crying. I said, "Hey lady, why are you crying?" She said they were happy tears. I didn't understand that either.

Later that week, the pastor came to our house and explained it to me. We prayed and I asked Jesus into my heart. I was baptized soon after.

When I held services for four years at our local men's rescue mission, I didn't offer an altar call because I thought the staff may not want a woman who was not a pastor doing it. I sang and shared stories. I did build relationships with the guys and they told me I made a difference in their lives.

If I ever get the opportunity again, I will. The great thing about music is the message within the lyrics. It stays with people. Have you ever heard a song you couldn't get out of your head?

Also, the great thing about writing is the reader decides what they will do with the words in their life. I'd like to share what I wish I had said to the guys. You're here for a reason. Your choices may have led you to this place but you get to decide where to go from here. Jesus willingly laid down his life for our sins, mistakes, whatever you want to call them. He is waiting to walk with you. You never have to walk alone again.

Please come. People are flawed and some will disappoint you. You are welcome at the table. Lay your burdens at his feet. I care and so does he.

From Pain to God's Presence Through Pain

By Steve Wickham

There are many ways with which God challenges our hearts, but could this way be poignant for us all?

The truth is, because we're all sinners, we all fail to adequately and appropriately follow Jesus like He or we would like. Secondly, we fail to experience Jesus as He or we would like. These, I believe, are connected. (This article is no comment on the grace that saves us all from an eternal destiny without Christ, thank God!)

We can follow and experience Jesus better. When we follow Jesus well we experience His Presence better. And central to both connected concepts is pain.

Spiritual pleasure is felt when we feel our pain materially. What I mean is the comfort we crave, which in many ways is desire out of control, morphing materially into sin, is the temptation to avoid pain that God may well invite us to enter. Here's the idea:

God's promised Presence is prepared for those who are prepared to enter and even embrace their pain.

None of us like the idea of experiencing God at a deeper level through our pain. We always hope that God would just love us more and bless us with His favour simply for being nice people.

But God doesn't work that way. God is the Lord of truth. He desires that we be truthful about the areas of our lives where we know we cannot measure up, not to rub our noses in them, but to consecrate us because of our faults. In other words, the more we admit our sin, the more we're aware, and act, the more we experience peace with God.

God wants us to enter His courts with humility enough to reconcile our sin. When we do, He invites us into deeper intimacy, not unlike the transaction that occurs for David in Psalm 51. We need to be Psalm 51 Christians, able to endure the pain that propels us into the healthy fruit of repentance.

In truth, we need to be people of truth before a God of truth. Then we will be free.

We avoid pain through the comforts of this world,

but if we avoid comfort that can never satisfy,

and enter the truth of the pain about ourselves we do not like,

God will meet us there by His Presence

and He will give us true comfort.

Can Whole Body CryoTherapy Slow Down Or Treat The Effects Of Multiple Sclerosis?

By Lance Winslow

Well, it turns out that since Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms are greatly reduced with Whole Body CryoTherapy (WBCT). This is because WBCT disrupts the inflammation process so the pain is reduced temporarily as the body resets itself. Once temporarily reset MS appears in regression. Some recommend a two-week treatment (twice a day, 3-hour intervals) every 6-months to try to prevent the onset of a recurrence of hard-hitting debilitating issues from MS.

Since Whole Body CryoTherapy disrupts the inflammation process it therefore makes sense for a short-term reliever of symptoms, resetting the body. In fact, one research study showed a result in "positive antioxidant effects of WBCT as a short-term help in treatment for patients suffering from MS."

Modern medicine still doesn't know all it needs to determine what causes MS or how to cure it, but it appears that Whole Body CryoTherapy might serve as a nice stop gap for those who suffer from MS, perhaps temporarily limiting its effect on their lifestyle due to symptom flare-ups or relapses in condition. It's great to know the value of WBCT for those afflicted with MS.

Another interesting link is how CryoTherapy induces an endorphin rush as endorphins are a chemical that is good for our central nervous system and brain, which are also places that MS causes our bodies to attack. There is more to this story, and we hope research finds out how it is all connected. In the meanwhile if you have MS, you might wish to see how Whole Body CryoTherapy can assist you in dealing with the symptoms, relapses and pain associated with it.

There is one research paper on this I'd like to point you to; "Effects of the whole-body cryotherapy on a total antioxidative status and activities of some antioxidative enzymes in blood of patients with multiple sclerosis-preliminary study," by E. Miller, M. Mrowicka, K. Malinowska, K. Zolynski and J. Kedziora. See: Journal of Medical Investment 2010 Feb;57(1-2):168-73.

When we survey various Whole Body CryoTherapy establishments we learn that the MS community is expanding its interest and we are seeing more folks who are afflicted with MS showing up for regular Whole Body CyroTherapy sessions. Apparently the word is out, and folks are finding relief with Cryo Therapy. This is great news due to the debilitating conditions that MS causes during flare ups or in late stages.

Although this one study isn't enough to guarantee relief, we see lots of activity here, and there must be a reason for it, as Cryo Therapy isn't free, and it's cold and if it didn't work, why would you want to subject yourself to it? Think on this.

Type 2 Diabetes - Is There a Connection Between Alzheimer's and Diabetes?

By Beverleigh H Piepers

Worldwide, at least 44 million people are living with one of the dementias. Sadly Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia in the elderly. It is not a mental illness but it brings about symptoms related to mental health. Symptoms such as...

depression,

anxiety,

agitation, and

hallucinations.

We all hope and pray we can avoid developing this disease, but if you or loved one is having any of these symptoms, it may be helpful to have a medical evaluation.

When our memory declines, sadly our quality of life is affected but yet; many people are not putting enough stock into taking care of their mental health. While this by no means downplays the importance of having a lifestyle plan that helps you to control your blood sugar level and body weight, you also do need to take care of the other areas of your body.

Recent breakthrough studies have revealed insulin is produced by the brain, not just the pancreas. Perhaps this validates the connection between impaired sugar metabolism and sluggish thinking. As a person with Type 2 diabetes become more insulin resistant, blood sugar and insulin levels in the bloodstream rise, but insulin in the brain lowers to below an average level. Then lower than normal signaling and transmission of brain chemicals start to be affected.

When you have trouble remembering where you put your keys this morning, or you cannot for the life of you remember the name of the person you talked to last week, you may wonder if this should be a concern. Could you be headed down a path to Alzheimer's?

Here's what to know...

What Is A Concern, What Is Not? The good news is if you have often forgotten where you left your keys, it probably is forgetfulness. It hasn't been a recent development. If, on the other hand, you are doing something different - say you always drive one way to work but one morning forget how to get there, that becomes a cause for concern.

Often, in those who are suffering from Alzheimer's disease, it is not themselves who are aware of their behavior. Instead, it is those around them. They notice their behavior patterns are different and that is what helps gives it away.

What To Do If You Think You Are Suffering. If you do feel like you may be suffering from Alzheimer's disease the most crucial step you can take is to seek help early. By doing so, you can be prescribed medications to help slow down the progression of the disease.

Alzheimer's dementia is manageable to some degree and the sooner you start managing it, the better your overall quality of life will be.

There you have a little information about memory loss and Alzheimer's.While there is a connection, it is not always what it seems.

Although managing your disease can be very challenging, Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. You can make simple changes to your daily routine and lower both your weight and your blood sugar levels. Hang in there, the longer you do it, the easier it gets.

For nearly 25 years Beverleigh Piepers has searched for and found a number of secrets to help you build a healthy body. Go to http://DrugFreeType2Diabetes.com to learn about some of those secrets.

The answer isn't in the endless volumes of    available information but in yourself.

Can Whole Body CryoTherapy Help Athletes Achieve Faster Recovery After Extreme Workouts?

By Lance Winslow

How Can Standing In a Whole Body CyroTherapy Sauna Freezing My Butt Off for 3-minutes Help Improve My Recovery Time After Competition Or Extreme Work Outs?

Ha ha ha, well, we want to thank our future customer and local semi-pro athlete for asking this question and well, also for putting it so bluntly. Suffice it to say, your buttocks will still be there after a 3-minute session. And, if you have a 'pain in the butt' it probably be all but gone after you get out of the Whole Body CryoTherapy sauna. Here is why.

After a maximum athletic effort, whether it be a marathon,50K trail run, cycling a century (100-miles), triathlon, or hell week football training your body's muscles are sore from micro-tears. Your body sends in help in the form of nutrients (amino acids and muscle building molecules) and pro-inflammatory support. Your body's anti-inflammatory mechanism cannot keep up, and it will take a while to heal.

Unfortunately, if you are too sore to move, the chances of continuing to reinforce your new athletic plateau of performance with another workout is unsustainable. Besides most of the healing is done in the first hour after the maximum effort (this is why protein drinks are recommended directly after a workout) and then within 24-48 hours. You can't just sit on your "toushy buns" (butt) for a whole week lest you lose all that you've gained. Best to get to the CryoTherapy Sauna, alleviate the pain so you can go at it hard again. Don't be a chicken, it's only 3-minutes.

And mind you, you don't have to be an elite athlete to enjoy the benefits of shorter recovery times. Anyone who pushes their limits feels the same pain and thus incurs the same challenges. In fact, the only way to break through to the next level of your fitness requires consistency and a little pain. Using a CryoTherpay sauna helps you reduce that pain, so you get "more pain for less gain" - just sayin'

Is There Any Proof That Whole Body Cryo Helps Shorten Recovery Time For Work Outs And Training?

Well, we always like to say, come see for yourself, but if you want empirical evidence, and want to know if there are such research studies available, they are numerous. We all know that an ice bath of 30-minutes helps marathoners, football players, boxers, cyclists and track stars recover faster, and we know that CryoTherapy session of 3-minutes does essentially the same thing in a different way, and the cost is about the same by the time you buy bags of ice to cool the temperature down low enough in a tub to actually help you.

Okay, But How Does This Actually Work?

CryoTherapy decreases levels of creatine kinase well below that of passive recovery, which helps repair muscle fiber, thus, adding to recovery with just one session. Studies also showed a decrease in inflammatory cytokines while showing an increase in anti-flammatory cytokines compared to those who merely roughed it out. These studies were done by measuring the markers of inflammation flood into the system.

Coming in and enjoy a CryoTherapy Saund within 24-48 hours of an extreme athletic activity -- one where your muscles are sore from micro tears and have damage -- to alleviate pain, speed up recovery, and allow you to go back and do it again. The ability to tear down and build up repeating the cycle faster than you could ever do by simply going for a passive recovery means you become stronger, faster and better at all you do.

Does Whole Body CryoTherapy Really Reduce Pain Associated With Fibromyalgia?

By Lance Winslow

In 2000 there was a study in Germany involving 120 people that had rheumatoid arthritis, 45% of them with fibromyalgia - most all experienced reduced pain. That's proof enough. Many believe there is not enough evidence to empirically prove it, but people in pain know the pain they feel or don't.

While the FDA has not specifically 'approved' cryotherapy for fibromyalgia treatment, and warns citizens of potential false claims being made, those who've used cryotherapy tell of reduced pain and other benefits for their fibro. Several fibromyalgia online groups also have people talking about their personal journeys with fibro and how cryotherapy has changed their lives.

It could take years, maybe even a decade for the FDA to recognize whole body cryotherapy as a viable treatment to curtail the pain associated with fibromyalgia. I suppose you could live with all that pain until then, your choice.

Nearly all of the most common symptoms of fibromyalgia are reduced when cryotherapy is used on someone without the condition. Chronic Pain, pain intolerance, sleep disorders, depressed mood, swelling and inflammation, sore muscles and tendons, musculo-skeletal pain, itchy skin and whole body soreness, and chronic fatigue are all things that cryotherapy is suited for, in fact at first glance one might say cryotherapy is made for fibromyalgia patients.

You see, Whole Body CryoTherapy reduces inflammation, increases collagen, gives you an endorphin rush, boosts the immune system, activates anti-stress hormones, and causes increases in anti-oxidants in the blood. Each of these benefits solves one or more of the symptom problems associated with fibromyalgia. All together it makes sense to anyone except a pharmaceutical company with a patented and high-priced fibromyalgia medication. This isn't an anti-FDA statement, just an observation. You will have to be the final judge and try Whole Body CryoTherapy for yourself. We can't promise you it works, only that others with fibro swear by it.

There was an interesting Whole-body cryotherapy rehabilitation study of patients with rheumatoid diseases, and although this was ONLY a pilot study it did render some fascinating results. (Die Rehabilitation [01 Apr 2000, 39(2):93-100]). Another study was a little more proof positive in solid results, this research was published; "Effects of 15 consecutive cryotherapy sessions on the clinical output of fibromyalgic patients," by L. Bettoni, FG. Bonomi, V. Zani, L. Manisco, A. Indelicato, P. Lanteri, G. Banfi and G. Lombardi.

It certainly appears that Whole Body Cryotherapy does indeed holds a promising future for those afflicted, allowing them to go about their lives with minimal symptoms or pain. Think on this.

Ayurveda's Four Foods To Eat Before and After Your Work-Out

By Dr. Helen Mary Thomas D.C

After a run or fast walk or very long walk especially if you are 60 or over your glycogen store has been mostly depleted. That's when fat storage has all but taken over. It requires oxygen to convert more acetyl sugar to ATP and your lungs aren't efficient enough to grab the oxygen you need.

Fresh from an inspiring walk we feel invincible and good about ourselves. That is when we can follow up with nutritional self-care to cool our body down and feed our tissues to prepare for our next exercise date.

Very active and vigorous exercise choices are good for medium and heavy-set physical constitution. For the person who is always trying to keep their weight on or put weight on Ayurveda recommends exercise like yoga, Tai Chi and stretching.

Before your workout make a date drink.

Soak five dates in a glass of water overnight. Next day liquefy the mixture in the blender and drink. this will give you energy and vitality.

If you don't like dates you can grind a one-half cup of fresh watermelon seeds to make a fine pulp. Add one teaspoon of low glycemic sugar and one half teaspoon of ghee and eat it on an empty stomach.

These recipes are from Ayurvedic Cooking For Self Healing by Usha Lad and Dr. Vasant Lad

Foods from the kitchen are superior to any thing you can buy in a can in a store that sells a million and one supplements according to the science of Ayurveda. Nutritional research supports this fact also with studies that reveal that the supplement industry has 50,000 recalls a year. Regulations have been relaxed to the point of hardly any regulations.

Making your own foods fresh with local ingredients is the best, trusted food medicine we can provide for ourselves.

After a work out take one cup of freshly squeezed orange juice with pulp with a pinch of salt is good for fatigue after exercise.

At least one time a week to increase your nutritional support for muscle tissue regeneration make the following recipe: Two bananas, five fresh figs, chopped together with a spoonful or two of honey add two pinches ginger powder. This is a complete meal and a tonic for muscular strength.

Movement is our best medicine. I have heard that anti-sitting is our next anti-smoking campaign for public health. Movement as in exercise is the antidote for long life. Ayurveda cautions that we should exercise only 1/2 our capacity. This measure of exercise stimulates our gastric juices, eliminate toxins and reduce fat. When you over exercise you can get dehydrated, become breathless, over exert muscles even heart muscles leading to heart disease, arthritis and nerve disorders.

Just click here and sign up for my Ten week Ayurveda Online Class. I will teach 40 minutes and then we will have live Questions and Answers. I always use evidenced- based research to support the food principles. I have been teaching and practicing Ayurveda for thirty years. Currently I teach at SRJC in Santa Rosa California.
