How We Are Justified by Faith

How We Are Justified by Faith

By Craig Condon

In Romans chapters 2 and three, Paul argued that through the Gospel, it is faith that brings humans into harmony with God. In the passage we heard from Romans, Paul considers Abraham as an example. Abraham was blessed because he believed, had faith, that he would be father of a nation and a source of blessing for everyone. Abraham received the promises of God through faith, and not through the law.

The basis of Abraham's relationship with God was faith, and faith is the primary basis of our relationship with God. Abraham's faith was confidence in a person-God. The object of faith matters more than anything else. Abraham's faith was exemplary, because his faith was in God. Abraham's faith was related to his knowledge of God, the object of his faith. He had faith in the God who could breathe life into deadness, especially since God breathed life into Abraham and Sarah so they could have a child.

Abraham's faith was conversant with the problems he faced. His faith was consistent in its progress. When he was faced with delay and discouragement with God's plan, his faith didn't waver. It was strengthened. He was also convinced that God's promises would be fulfilled. Abraham knew that God never promises anything He can't deliver. Do we believe that? If we do, then it only makes sense to put our complete trust in Him, regardless of how dark our circumstances might appear. All believers become heirs with Abraham of the promise. Abraham's faith is a good example of the faith we as Christians should have. It led to Abraham's justification. He had faith in a God what could provide the divine answer to the human problem.

When God's people look to the law for justification instead of to God, failure to keep the law makes them guilty and they face death instead of life. God's promise of the law is uncertain. His promise of faith is certain. The promise given to Abraham has not expired nor become the private possession of any one race. It permeates the entire world.

Abraham's faith conquered impossibility, improbability, inadequacy, inconsistency, insecurity and infidelity. Abraham believed in the God of creation, who "calls those things which do not exist as though they did." This is the essence of faith. The same God of Genesis 1-2 who brought forth life and the earth and sky out of nothing also brought forth Isaac, the son of promise, from the deadness of Sarah's womb. Later, at the altar, standing over that same son with a knife in obedience to the Lord, Abraham again believed that God could give life to the dead. Hope that is centered in God is contrary to the world's hope.

Abraham did not waver in his faith at the time of testing, God's ability to perform His promises was the foundation of Abraham's faith's stability. Faith looks past the gift to the Giver and past the promise to the One who promises. Abraham's faith was linked to God's power and faithfulness. Abraham didn't have great cause to expect God to fulfill His promise because of the circumstances Abraham was in. In spite of this, he believed God's Word and looked forward to the time when his offspring would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.

God can declare people who believe in Him to be righteous even though they aren't. He can do this by giving His righteousness to them, just like He declared Jesus' "Sin" and punished Him even though Jesus was not a sinner. If Abraham was justified by faith, then all of us are justified on the same basis. The proof is God's acceptance of Jesus' sacrifice. God would be able to be just and yet justify the ungodly.

God considered Abraham a righteous man because Abraham looked beyond the limitations of his age. God considered Abraham to be someone who could accomplish His goals. Abraham accepted God by faith. Similarly, if we accept God by faith, God's grace will be available to us. When we act in faith, we give God the glory for the outcome, like Abraham did. Abraham didn't parade greatness or look for praise from others.

When his hope died, Abraham went on hoping in faith. Similarly, when we are at a dead end in our lives, we need faith, and we need to read and study the Bible. It gives us encouragement because even if something is out of our control, it isn't out of God's control. As we spend time reading and studying the Bible, God will show us how to live by faith. We do this by preparing well, speaking in a Christ like manner, sharing God's love and understanding that God wants to change our lives.

Faith is something that is strengthened over time. Abraham and Sarah waited for years for God to fulfill His promise. Abraham considered and thought about God's strength and ability. He thought about God's faithfulness and gave praise and glory to God. Abraham's faith allowed God to do mighty things in and through him.

God gives us great promises-the same promises made to Abraham-and invites us to come by faith and receive the grace of those promises and the fullness of life with God. God invites us to join Him in a bond of peace that nothing that can overthrow and that is richer, fuller and more durable than anything the world can offer.

Paul understands Jesus' death as representative of all humanity. Jesus entered the death into which all humanity condemned by its sinfulness and then rose from the dead. His resurrection is representative of what can be true for all who accept what God has declared in the story of Jesus. There can be no discrimination based on race and religious tradition. All human beings need to enter a relationship of faith with God, and all human beings can enter that relationship. Paul argues that we shouldn't think of Abraham in terms of being the patriarch of Israel, but rather as the model and mentor of all who believe.

So how do we lay hold of these promises so that we may enjoy the full and abundant life He plans for us?

1. We need to make sure we understand the promises of God and that we see them for as precious and great as they are.
2. We must give glory to God for His promises-praising and thanking Him daily, taking the promises back to Him and exalting Him for such grace and mercy, rehearsing our plans and visions before Him with gratitude and praise.
3. We must remember that we are called to be people of faith who are not misled by denominational traditions. The law has always been a mean of pointing the way to God. It is an instrument that helps us know and do the divine will. As such the law is meant to free us, but when the law is mistaken for an end, the consequence can be a state of spiritual confusion in which all hope is obscured. The law can't set us right with God and therefore give us access to God's promised blessings. Any relationship with God that is grounded in and lives out of the law is not a right relationship.

When we praise God, we're putting our faith in action. Just as putting our physical bodies into action so they will grow strong, putting our faith in action through prayer, worship and thanksgiving will make it grown strong too.

Faith is the determination to keep on walking with God no matter what happens, and that faith results in commitment. Faith demands dependence and we resist depending on God because of our stubborn independence. It's hard for us to trust God more fully because of our willful pride and our sinful nature.

The world judges us by how much we can gather for ourselves, but there are no wages in heaven. In faith, God sets us free of needing to earn our way. We are freely showered with God's mercy. When we see our lives from God's viewpoint, we no longer have to worry about comparing ourselves to others. No one has to be worthy. God's grace overturns all our economies. Abraham and Sarah trusted God, though His promise seemed to good to be true, and they received a son whom they nicknamed "Laughter." We trust that the same God whose promise is good and true and receive abundant, eternal life in Jesus.

More Than a Difference of Opinions

More Than a Difference of Opinions

By Michael A Verdicchio

Right or Left? Liberal or Conservative? Democrat or Republican?

There has always been a difference of opinions in this country. There always will be. However, the divisiveness and intolerance for opposing views has escalated, and in some cases to the extreme.

Concerning the hot social issues in this "information age" we live in, there is an abundance of information, as well as misinformation, promoted on many fronts. From social media, to online news services, to 24 hour cable news outlets, platforms providing information continue to grow.

I was talking with someone a few weeks ago who told me he gets all his news from Facebook. He's not alone. According to a Pew study last year, 67% of U.S. adults get at least some news on social media. Facebook, they reported, still leads other social media in that category.

Differences of opinion are one thing, but isn't it sad to see so many in our country caught up in all this extreme divisiveness? The Right demeans the Left; Liberals condemn Conservatives; Democrats hate Republicans. Many who loudly and proudly say they advocate tolerance are themselves very intolerant. Many who preach love are not very loving.

The Christian Response

For the followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, what should our response be to all this political and social unrest? Maybe we ought to consider how Jesus handled the political and social scene in his country when he walked the earth. It was certainly not an ideal environment, to say the least.

Some 60 years before Jesus was born, the Romans expanded their empire and occupied Israel. Can you imagine seeing armed soldiers from another country stationed in your city! While the Jewish leaders had some authority over certain matters, Rome had the ultimate power and authority, and they wielded it vigorously.

In addition to government officials appointed by Rome, such as governors and others, Judaism at the time of Jesus was a complex mixture of divergent social, political and religious ideologies.

There was the Zealot movement, comprised of those who were trying to actively fight for their freedom from Rome. Some have referred to them as revolutionary freedom fighters.
Wealthy lay-nobles, priests and aristocrats, the Sadducees, tried to keep their power through compromise with Rome. The Sanhedrin came from this group.
Temple Priests not only officiated over the religious life of the Jews, but were also rulers and judges. In Jesus' time, King Herod, bowing to Rome, decided who would be the High Priest.
Most of the Scribes (the 'theologians' of the day) were Pharisees. They promoted a strict, meticulous observance of rites and ceremonies of the written law. They were extremely legalistic.
King Herod was a client king appointed by Rome. He and his sons were vicious murderers.
The Herodians were a political party that wanted to restore a Herod to the throne in Judea as well as other areas ruled by Herod the Great. They were political foes of the Pharisees who wished to restore the kingdom of David.
The Samaritans were despised by the Jews as foreigners who worshipped the Lord in the wrong way. It was taught that Jews should have no dealings with them.
And there were the Essenes, who thought the solution was isolation, to withdraw from society completely.

The Light of the World!

Jesus didn't promote withdrawing. He certainly wasn't legalistic. He didn't compromise with the Romans, and he never advocated a violent overthrow of Rome. Instead, he taught the people about God. He brought light to his dark world. So can we.

Jesus saw the bigger picture - his Father's picture. He taught people about the goodness of God. He encouraged love and forgiveness. He healed people. So can we.

He told his followers they were the light of the world. He said, "Let your light so shine among men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

The only "cause" Jesus was involved with was doing the will of his Father. When confronted by people of various groups of Judaism or Rome, he responded with the Truth. In some cases, he was silent. There is very little recorded about his interaction with Rome, but what is written speaks volumes.

Our Country Needs Light!

Of course we're not blind to the cultural deterioration, hate and darkness we see and hear all around us. But whether it's here in the United States, or in any country, those who know God's Word ought to be promoting God's Light! The last thing Jesus said before he ascended was that we are to be witnesses to the ends of the earth.

You and I can bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Gospel of peace to people in our part of the earth. Instead of getting caught up in all the divisive ruckus, we can, to the best of our ability, let our light shine. We can bring people the Good News about our good God, and about His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the end of the recent Super Bowl, it was refreshing to see both the winning coach, and then two players, acknowledge Jesus Christ and God for their success. They didn't use that platform to make a political statement, or a protest. Instead, they promoted the True God and His Son.

And one other thing that is often overlooked, but so critically important: Scripture admonishes us to pray for those in authority, period. The reason? So that we can lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness. Our leaders need our prayers!

There will always be difference of opinions in the political and social arenas. But as a follower of Jesus Christ, pray for your country! And, let your light shine by speaking His Truth!

I Corinthians 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

A Time To Speak

A Time To Speak

By Bob Faulkner

My early days in the Lord were spent in a nearby church of Christ. Great folks, I honor them still for teaching me the Word, and to live by only the things recorded therein.

So when I thought I had found something in that Word that did not seem to be in accord with the training I had received, I felt compelled to leave all behind and follow that truth.

I did not have to leave them, actually. As far as the ministry was concerned -and I had trained for it for four years - I was given the left foot of fellowship.

The "truth" I had found was in the whole realm of the gifts of the Spirit, the "baptism" of the Holy Spirit, the availability today of the same power that was present at Pentecost. Spiritual gifts in particular.

That was what I believed. I had been troubled by it for years, seeing high school friends and neighbors who seemed to have something I did not have, regarding spiritual things. They spoke of Jesus confidently and with joy. My own expression had centered on the more cerebral side of the Bible. I wanted to get the facts right and proclaim those facts. A teacher was being born in me, and I wanted to teach people perfect truth.

All of that was shattered when I saw those other passages in the Word. Of course, they had been there all along, but we were taught that they were for the first century. And I believed it.

But not now. I found the critical turning-point verse in 1 Corinthians 13:8. For me, everything hinged on the proper interpretation of that verse about gifts passing away. Paul spoke of something "perfect" coming along that would replace that which was partial. I became confident that the "perfect" thing that Paul spoke of was the state of affairs that will prevail when Jesus comes again. Therefore, since Jesus had not returned, the gifts would have to continue to survive until He did.

A bit shaky a foundation, just that one verse. But it had to do. It seemed to answer so much.

When booted from the church of Christ ministry I sought refuge in a standard Pentecostal church, the Assemblies of God denomination. This was a group whose umbrella was broad enough to take in charismatics like me and old-style Pentecostals too.

I became a part of that church and others like it over the years.

After living a while in the city where I had studied, and had even started a church, circumstances brought me back to my home town. By this time, I had "matured" in these new teachings to the point where I had to concede that, if the Spirit's presence in a person was the basis for fellowship with them, then anyone who claimed to be "filled with the Spirit" must be my brother or sister. What a leap of understanding!

I met such a "Spirit-filled" sister in a Christian home created by Teen Challenge for persons who had no other place to go. I was in that category at the time, and was glad to find a place to live. This was Columbus, Ohio.

She was Roman Catholic. Anathema to me at one time, suddenly it was all OK. Within months, we were married. Only three years had passed before my monumental change had overtaken me. But it would get worse.

Not long into our marriage, we visited a Christian drive-in movie. The film of the night was Billy Graham's Shadow of the Boomerang. Over the months I had been seeking God for an experience. I wanted to have assurance of my salvation, but I also wanted to speak in tongues and therefore know that I was truly filled with the Spirit. Like millions before and after me, my heart was sincere. I believed this gift was out there, and necessary.

So, on this night, you will understand why I believed my prayers had come before God and gotten a positive response. Billy preached a message at the end of the movie. He preached about sin and our need to be forgiven. For the first time of hearing a Graham message - and I had heard many, even memorized some - I really heard it. It went deep inside of me. I was a sinner. A great sinner. Tears flowed. Something was happening. A real spirit of repentance, not something I had cooked up.

There followed a huge joy, overwhelming, unspeakable. I became obnoxious, I am sure, to my wife and anyone who might have heard me. I was fairly glowing with the joy of the Lord.

Then I did something that had repercussions for many, many years to come. Since I had been trained that believers can be baptized "the same hour of the night", as the Philippine jailer, and since I believed that now at last my other "baptism" would come, I took over the scene that was unfolding. I would call our new preacher friend, I would have him baptize me, and I would be filled that very night!

My plan was carried out without a hitch. Except... When I came up out of the waters of the Scioto River, thinking how this must be the moment, there was some serious hesitation within me. I had some syllables rattling around my brain, but there was no "outpouring", no Heavenly visitation. I actually stopped the proceedings and asked the preacher if I should just say out loud what was in my head! Of course, he agreed.

And from that moment until, well, I am ashamed to put in print how many years passed, I lived with doubt about my experience. The first part gave me no trouble. I knew sin was being dealt with on that night. But the tongues part. Not so sure. I knew that I wanted a Pentecostal experience in the worst way, and that I was not above helping things along. Any of my readers done something like this?

But God was not seconding my motion on that evening. And thankfully so, I can now say. I have always wanted to walk in truth. I have wanted never to be deceived, or as a teacher, to deceive others. No, it was good I lived in doubt. For the fact is, I taught myself to "speak in tongues."

And my experience is that of so many! I've seen special teachers come to a congregation, to invite those who do not have their "prayer language" to come forward. The teachers then proceed to instruct them in the tongues method. Move your tongue. Say whatever comes naturally. God won't do this for you. You open your mouth, He will fill it. And so on...

Some methods are worse than others, but the bottom line is: no one in the New Testament had to learn how to speak in tongues! No one!

I'm guessing here, but my estimate is that ninety percent of the "tongues" audible in our generation are a learned behavior. And once you've learned it, you are forced to pass on your knowledge to others who are curious. Hence the indescribable growth of the phenomenon.

I will speak more of tongues later.

Though I lived in doubt over the next years, I did not want to take a chance that I would "quench the Spirit". So, in my private prayer time I would allow just any syllable that wanted to come out, to do so. Sometimes it felt good. Especially if I was out of English things to say. Just change gears, and your prayer time is filled up.

My wife left after seven years with me. Let me bear the blame for that as a non-nourishing immature husband. But the desire for tongues and fellowship with all the Body of Christ had led me to an unequal yoking. True Protestants and true Catholics will have a strained marriage at best.

Anyway, I had asked God to fill me with His Spirit. And to give me a gift. Over the years it became obvious that I was to teach and write. My very first book exposed Rome. I remember the deep burnings of my heart as I examined the history of this religio-political system headquartered on the Tiber. The Spirit was teaching me things, in spite of the things I was going after.

I delved deep into prophecy in those days. Bible prophecy. Not the "prophecy" of our generation, most of which is not true, but comes out of human spirits. I discovered things about the future, from the Word, that gave me great satisfaction and joy. The Spirit was still working in me.

But my conclusions expressed in those books always put me on the outside of the Pentecostal/charismatic people with whom I was fellowshipping. It was lonely being "one of them" but being true to the Scriptures too. Seriously.

When I got into the "doctrines of grace," I certainly slammed the door to any meaningful fellowship with modern "Spirit-filled" folks. I truly believed in the election of God. Most Pentecostals do not. None in my circle were with me on this.

Narrow is the way.

Then life came full circle. A simple John Macarthur teaching made it so obvious to me. Tongues will cease, said Paul. But when? Early, says history. Before the apostolic age was even finished, they had all but quit, not to mention other miraculous giftings. Do the study yourself. Until 1900, all "tongue" speaking was by heretics and pagans.

One thousand eight hundred years with no tongues in the church! And now God resurrects a gift that was originally placed in the church as a negative sign to Jews? Probably not.

I decided that I would have to leave Pentecostal churches altogether, though this could cause unimaginable pain to friends and family, nearly all of whom are Pentecostal/ charismatic/NAR. I would maintain a love and respect for the many good and holy people I knew. But I could no longer promote tongues.

How ironic. When I entered the tongues movement, I left all behind. Now I was being called on to do it again, for the opposite reason.

And it wasn't just tongues. Carried to a greater degree there are further issues that developed over the years. Like the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation). Before I knew all the New Age trappings that many NAR folks are a part of, which I will discuss in more detail later, I listened with great interest to men like Bill Johnson and Randy Clark. I went to a Randy Clark meeting and had him pray over me. I went To Rick Joyner's operation in what used to be Jim Bakker's headquarters. I traveled to Toronto to sit under the Arnott's and his fellow pastors. Bill Johnson actually became my favorite online preacher. I loved listening to Furtick and Jakes and Todd White, all connected in one way or another to NAR.

If you don't know the names, that's alright. Few do. But these names are becoming legendary among a growing number of charismatics. I was really into this thing.

Much of my acceptance of these men and their teachings happened during a serious mental/nervous breakdown. In 2009 I had heart problems, a super stressful job, and I took a trip to Korea to write the stories of North Korean defectors.

Somewhere along the line, I lost it. I ran out of adrenalin. I was a very sick man.

I was desperate for answers, and for a healing. My wife took me all over Seoul looking for charismatic-like places that might be able to solve my problem. I cannot tell you how awful all of that was. Some were after my money, others displayed manifestations that are so beyond description I will not try. But none produced healing. None.

When I came home after seven grueling weeks, the problem persisted and was not healed for months, when l God graciously got me on the right medication.

Yes, God refused to grant a simple - for Him - healing through any of the Korean meetings or my favorite TV preachers. I was even prayed for during this time by Heidi Baker, for by now the concept of "women preachers" had become a possibility. Nothing "worked" until my medicine kicked in. I give God praise for healing me in this medical way, but no credit goes to the so-called apostles of our day

Thing is, even in the midst of it all, their teachings made sense. And they hit me at a time when I needed help. I grasped for them as a dying man will do. I was so wanting to be whole like them, and I thought I was in the pathway to that wholeness by hanging on to them.

But as I grew strong again, I began to examine the men who were making these inroads into the established church, upsetting ecclesial governments, dividing churches into the haves and have-nots.

Years later came quadruple bypass surgery, and another breakdown due, they tell me, to the medicines used to put me out during the operation. There followed more hopeless days and nights, calling on God, getting prayed for here and there. Again, nothing until medication kicked in again.

I am well again. The message is now clear. God is a great healer and will answer our prayers when given in faith. But He will do it His own way, in His own time. I am to trust no man - or woman - for anything.

5 Ways To Protect The Sanctity Of Future American Elections

5 Ways To Protect The Sanctity Of Future American Elections

By Richard Brody

We may, or probably, will not, ever, fully know, all the details, about the level of, reasons, or motivations, behind, the interference in the 2016 Presidential elections, by foreign interests! Nearly every intelligence agency, and a considerable amount of evidence, which seems to be constantly expanding, indicates their was clearly, interference, either by the Russian government, or certain parties. President Trump has been an apparent holdout to this conclusion, by focusing on his election, rather than the far greater, more relevant issue, of how to learn, as much as possible, to ensure, our future elections, are fair, and pure! Unfortunately, this has become another of those partisan issues, where politics has seemed to take precedence over substantive service to effective public policy, which best serves the United States of America, and the important aspects of our freedoms and rights. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly examine, consider, and discuss, 5 ways we might, possibly, best protect the sanctity and integrity of future elections.

1. Examine digital imprints: How did cyber - crimes affect our recent elections, and what can we learn, to better protect us, from this continuing to occur, in the past? Our nation should utilize the skills, knowledge and expertise of our finest minds, in the fields of computers, etc, to oversee the process, and look at potential ramifications, and how to best protect ourselves. While what happened in the past, is important to investigate, and, it seems, at least from an optics - perspective, the President and his supporters, are focusing too much effort and attention, to minimizing this investigation (we should ask why, and what they might be hiding), it is far more important to use this investigation, to learn the best future approach. Just as we protect ourselves from potential terrorism, in other forms, it's important, to, also, do so, when it comes to cyber - crimes!

2. Better confirm identities: We live in a world of ever - increasing, identity theft, in nearly all aspects of our lives! Social media sites must do a better job, of ensuring the quality of the factual basis of posts, as well as being certain, these postings, are not an attempt, by outside parties, to influence the results of our elections. This must include, but not be limited, to a better way, of confirming identities, etc.

3. Mandatory fact - checking: Making certain, information is accurate, is often, far more challenging, than it appears! Mandatory fact - checking should be implemented, regarding statements articulated by specific candidates, and their campaigns, as well as ads and social media postings!

4. Examine unusual trends: Processes and procedures, often, create certain trends, which, might, either indicate who the responsible parties, might be, and/ or their objective!

5. Improve/ encrypt/ protect data: With all the ways, data can be hacked, and/ or influenced, perhaps, there might be better ways, to improve, how we encrypt, and protect all data, etc. Certain companies, such as BlackBerry, have demonstrated expertise, in doing so, and, we should learn from them, and take advantage of their efforts, knowledge and wisdom!

These are only 5 basic ways, to protect the sanctity and integrity of future American elections. We must do so, if we hope to preserve our way of life!

How to Get Rid of Fatigue and Increase Vitality

How to Get Rid of Fatigue and Increase Vitality

By Anand Kumar

You can actually unlock the keys to vitality, wellness and happiness if you are able to naturally control fatigue which is more of an emotional state than a physical one. Exhaustion is a feeling and if you are not very careful with the way you handle it, it may be very difficult to overcome. However, since you are capable of reading this piece right now, the solution is far-fetched if only you can read on.

It is very important for you to take note of what you feed your mind. Just like the popular computer phrase, garbage in garbage out, your mind works exactly in that format. If you feed your mind with positive things, you will get positive results and if you feed it with negative things you will get negative results. Whenever any negative thought enters your mind, the first thing you need to do is to acknowledge it and then take steps to stop it or the emotions it creates. Then, you need to replace the bad thoughts with good ones that are actually in line with your true needs.

Secondly, you must know how to keep your emotions in control because if you don't work on them, they can make you feel tired and exhausted. Emotions come from deeper areas of consciousness that you may not be aware of and the truth of the matter is that they cannot be banished. They can lift you to amazing heights sometimes and can keep you in pain, unhappiness as well as misery some other times. Since it is not possible to banish them, it is very important for you to manage them properly.

Furthermore, you should be more connected to your inner self in order to get revitalized frequently. Your inner self is directly connected to your true source of energy and has access to information related to your overall development. When you are connected, you will have the opportunity of aligning with the energy required for a happy and fulfilled life. Daily meditation is one of the ways of maintaining a healthy connection with your inner self and if this is properly done, it will go a long way to boost your energy and fight fatigue.

Besides, your body should be properly used in order to avoid exhaustion. You should set reasonable goals for yourself and avoid playing to the gallery. You should not try to please others at your own expense and eating what is not good for your body just to please someone is very detrimental to your overall well-being. You should eat organic foods as much as possible and taking food supplements will ensure that your body gets all the nutrients required for a healthy living.

For quality food supplements, you should get Maharishi Ayurveda products at MaharishiAyurvedaIndia.com.

Natural Minerals - The Spark Plugs of Life

Natural Minerals - The Spark Plugs of Life

By Ronald Woodham

Natural Minerals are the "Spark Plugs of Life" states a 2 x winner of the Nobel Prize!!

Our body is a bit like a 'car engine' - the car of course requires oil in the engine to ensure it runs smoothly and petrol to drive it. Just like our body which requires "natural minerals" to ensure it runs as smoothly as possible over the years, and it is the food we eat which provides them for us.

Question - What would happen to your car's engine IF you did not keep it topped up with oil?

Need I say more?

FACT- Our body's immune system requires a minimum of 60 'natural minerals' per day to enable it to carry out its function which is to protect us from all sorts of ailments and illnesses.

FACT - Imagine what is happening to your body IF you do not feed it sufficient 'natural minerals for IT to do its job effectively.

FACT - These 'natural minerals' are transferred from the soil into the food that is grown there, but unfortunately they are 'no longer' available in the quantities we require due to over farming, chemicals and pesticides.

FACT - Over the past 50 years and more this natural 100% supply has diminished to an alarming extent - by as much as 75% in most Countries across the World. In fact there is one State in the USA where there has been a 100% depletion of them!

FACT - The above came from a World Wide survey carried out by the World Health Organisation some 50 and more years ago - and WE are only just being told about it.

Well there is 'one' way YOU can make sure both yourself and your family feeds your bodies with the necessary amount of 'natural minerals' on a daily basis - and that is with a daily "Natural Sizzling Minerals" drink - or some "Natural Mineral Powder" sprinkled over the veg or other food you and your family eat on a daily basis.

By the way, there is ONLY Company in the World providing this benefit - and they are NOT available in the shops either.

Finally - a little note - whilst I would personally agree that 'organic' fruit & veg are better for you than all the other stuff we tend to buy just remember that even 'organic' food is mostly grown in 'depleted' soil. Just a thought.

To avoid any confusion please let me make it quite clear that Natural Minerals are NOT a cure for anything - they are not a medicine but they ARE a necessity in our daily lives as you will have read above.

This is your opportunity to check out Natural Minerals. Read My Story and see the benefits I have received along with links to a number of independent testimonials covering a range of ailments and illnesses that have been helped with these Natural Minerals.
Being a 'natural' product, mined from well below the Earth's surface they are deemed to be quite safe but if you are in any doubt please check them out with your medical professional before taking them.

Are You Looking For Work Now? The Holiday Season Can Be A Dark Place To Be Without A Job

Are You Looking For Work Now? The Holiday Season Can Be A Dark Place To Be Without A Job

By Patrick Ow

How many times have you tried looking for work or applying for a job but found yourself unemployed because companies are now winding down for the holiday season?

If you are unemployed, then the holiday season can be a dark place to be. You could be balancing your cash flow, expenses, family commitments, and Christmas gift buying.

It's generally known that hiring managers in most industries will start winding down recruitment and hiring tasks from November onwards until January or February when these tasks start to pick up again.

Here are some actions you can take.

Be flexible

The holiday season can be a great reason to reach out to friends and acquaintances. You can reconnect with people who you may have fallen out of contact with.

Networking is a great way to seek out those jobs that are not advertised. Whilst some industries will definitely wind down for Christmas, there will be others that will require more staff. Seek them out.

If you do get a call, be prepared to be interviewed at unusual times. Be flexible to the recruiter's or hiring manager's busy holiday schedule.

Philanthropic organizations are active during the holiday period. Volunteering in these organizations can be a great way for you to network, gain additional skills and fill the gap that unemployment might otherwise leave on your resume.

As you would expect, people want to take time off during the holiday season. Employers may be actively looking for casual or temporary staff to fill these gaps left vacated by employees going on holidays. A casual, temporary or part-time job can be a great way to get your foot into the job market. It's also a great way to manage your cash flow and earn some money.

Keep an eye out for a variety of part-time and temporary jobs available in retail and hospitality. The retail work includes sales, customer service, merchandising, stocking, and gift-wrapping. In hospitality, hotels, restaurants, and caterers need additional staff to run and manage their year-end events and parties.

Finding creative ways to make money

There are many more jobs you can do during the holiday season, to tie you over until the recruitment season starts off again.

Let's talk about some examples of how you can earn some money.

My friend Joe has been unemployed for several weeks after leaving his sales job due to an organizational restructure.

What I like about him is his positive attitude to life.

When I asked him what he was doing, he said; "I am Uber driving now to maintain my immediate cash flow. It's only a transition period for me until something else comes up."

Acknowledging that he's in a transition period takes courage, strength and a belief in his capability.

Interestingly Uber driving has been a popular method for many people including some of my friends to earn some money if they have a car that meets Uber's requirements.

As a family man, Joe is motivated because he has bills to pay.

The main problem for Joe was that his car wasn't fuel efficient. His profit margin wasn't that great after paying for fuel and commissions.

He has to find ways to increase his profit margin so that he can take home more cash.

I suggested for him to look into a private transporter and local courier arrangements where he deals directly with his clients. By doing so, his profit margins may be higher with the added benefit of a regular income stream.

There's no shortage of time-poor or busy parents who are willing to pay someone to drop off or pick up their school-age children from their homes. Joe could consider becoming a private transporter for school-age children, in addition to his Uber driving.

However, he needs to think about the long-term commitment especially when he finds his next permanent employment or job.

In between school drop off and pick up times, in addition to Uber driving, he could also consider transporting older or people who do not have cars to do their shopping or going for their appointments (e.g., medical, social, etc.).

With a regular pool of clients, he can build up his cash flow over time, whilst looking for a permanent job.

I also suggested that he considers becoming a local courier service provider to lawyers, accountants, shops, etc. operating in the community. This is where he could link up directly with these businesses to deliver same day delivery documents, parcels, and goods for customers.

In fact, Joe got a call from one of his business acquaintance about his availability to do an urgent delivery of a carpet to a customer.

Alternatively, he could also become a driver for courier marketplaces (platform) like Roadie or Zoom2U that connects customers and freelance courier drivers, similar to Uber connecting passengers and drivers.

Not forgetting UberEATS, my friend could also consider becoming a driver for this marketplace. UberEATS is another way to get food to people by freelance drivers similar to Domino's Pizza delivery.

Unexpected things do happen

Whilst writing this article, I got this text message from another friend; "I saw your article yesterday regarding internet business. I just had my spine surgery couple of weeks ago now bed rest for a couple of months, so I am off work, so I was wondering regarding your article for internet business can you please let me know."

We all have health challenges like my friend who sent me this text message. He cannot work for two months and he has to take unpaid leave during this recovery period. Like Joe, this friend is desperately looking for something he could do to earn money at home whilst he is recovering from surgery. He's thinking about e-commerce. I suggested for him to look into being an internet marketer because of his circumstances and it's only for a short-term during the holiday period.

An internet marketer sells other people's products and services and makes a commission on each sale. He can sell products on Amazon or eBay.

There are so many YouTube videos to show him the how-to's of internet marketing, how to sell on Amazon and eBay and how to market the products. With technology, there are no shortage of resources to help anyone with starting their online business or how to make money with a computer and internet connection.

The bottom-line

There's no shortage of money making ideas when there's a desire to succeed. It requires thinking outside the box, a different mindset. It requires flexibility and a strong why, or a strong reason to make money in addition to a normal job.

Story in Milan - To Give or Not to Give

Story in Milan - To Give or Not to Give

By Cessy Meacham

As much as I am passionate about roaming in airports and cruise ports and train stations, enjoying and wondering of the dynamics of the travelers there are a few things that for sure can take you out of your comfort zone

For me is seeing or being approach by beggars,

Although I love traveling alone, mostly for my last minute changes, today I felt a little vulnerable being alone and the target, in the Central Miln train station, this lady was probably 55 or 60 perhaps not Italian, I was seating in front of Juice Bar restaurant eating a delicious and warm sandwich, after 2 bites, this lady approached begging for a piece of bread, to me and to the other group of people eating right beside me. she would not move and kept asking for a piece of bread, she kept saying "a piece of bread please, please " needless to say I couldn't swallow any more bites, Also due to the fact that her finger pointing my sandwich was about 1 cm away from it, I decided to offer her the bread, so I lifted my 4" long sandwich and offered to her, she looked at it, and to my surprise she doesn't accept it and say:: is that fish?

I go no, just take it, is not fish.

She put her fingers on it and would not take the bloody sandwich!!

The girl next tAble starts to talk to her, in despite all her friends told her not to,

So this kind lady tells her, there is no fish sandwich, beggar insisted, yes yes fish sandwich. Kind lady grab her purse, stand up and say "I will buy you the sandwich" and then the moment of truth, the beggar said, no no I'll buy it, give one euro please please!

By then I have already left the sandwich. Grab my bags and Star walking away.

I felt deceived, angry, aggravated and what is worse hungry!

How can we read through the people that reach out for help?

How do we know if they are really hungry?

Aren't we supposed to help the needy?

My journey at the station did not finished there, but I manage to continue my train journey back to my next hotel.

I totally believe that we must work to earn every euro/dollar, I gladly help someone selling flowers or water because at least they are making the effort instead of just extending a hand. And the truth is that I swear every dime I earn.

I know this is not a singular story perhaps happens to you all the time, but I can't stop wondering How should I react next time?

Situations like this are the reason most people just ignored them?

What would you do?

From Burning Trees To a Lighthouse

From Burning Trees To a Lighthouse

By Katy Beacher

The Columbia drains a watershed area of about 259.000 square miles. The force of this great river meets the Pacific Ocean's massive mix of shifting channels, violent seas and high winds making for extremely dangerous navigation. Also, despite its wide mouth, mariners, historically, were often unable to find it.

About 1812 a beacon was erected on top of the 700 foot cape by Hudson's Bay Company Employees in order to assist the Beaver (the company ship) in finding the entrance to the Columbia River. They raised a flag and set trees on fire as a makeshift lighthouse.

As time went on the traffic on the northwest coast increased and the U. S. Coast Survey recommended the building of lighthouses at Cape Disappointment at the mouth of the Columbia River and Cape Flattery at the entrance to Puget Sound. This was about 1850.

The commander of the U. S. Surveying Schooner Ewing spoke out about the urgency of a light at the mouth of the Columbia River saying, "The greatly increasing commerce of Oregon demands that these improvements be made immediately... Within the last eighteen months more vessels have crossed the Columbia river bar than had crossed it, perhaps, in all time past"

Coast Survey Sub-Assistant A. M. Harrison, on November 29 1850, stated that the lighthouse should be located near the southern edge of Cape disappointment. This spot was about 250 feet above the high water mark and in position to avoid the fog bank that frequently covered its peak. This location was chosen because it had three-fourths horizontal view and they would not have to cut down some giant pine trees to the north.

It was decided that supplies for building the lighthouse be brought ashore at Baker's Bay which is about 1,000 yards south and below the construction site. A trail already existed from the landing to the top of Cape Disappointment but a new road needed to be constructed in order to transport the supplies to the top.

In 1853 a load of supplies for the lighthouse construction was being shipped into Baker's Bay. It grounded and broke up in the rough bar at the foot of Cape Disappointment. Building was finally begun after a second ship carrying supplies arrived in 1854. The 53 foot tower was finished along with the keeper's house which was a few minutes walk away.

It was two more years before the lighthouse was ready and operational. The cost of construction was $38,500. The wicks which illuminated the lens were lit for the first time by the keeper on October 15, 1856. A fixed white light was displayed providing enough light for mariners. But the fixed light while voiding the need for the keeper to make frequent trips up to the top to wind the mechanism he still had to carry 170 gallons of oil daily up to the lantern room.

A fog bell weighing 1,600 pounds was installed so as to give hearable warning as fog was a frequent visitor to the Columbia River mouth. In foggy weather when mariners could not see the light they could hear the bell. It would strike nine consecutive times every minute.

Fort Canby was built nearby during the Civil War. In 1871 during artillery practice the fog bell was shattered. Seafarers complained that they could not hear the replacement bell. Another problem was that ships coming from the north couldn't see the Cape Disappointment light. To support their arguments for a better light they cited the wrecks of the Whistler (1883) and the Grace Roberts (1887).

In 1892 a floating lighthouse was established at the mouth of the Columbia River four miles southwest of Cape Disappointment It remained there until 1909 when it was replaced by a 120 foot sail-powered ship which stayed for 30 years.

In 1898 the 65-foot North Head Lighthouse was built about two miles north of the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse.

Today in 2018 the two lighthouses are still operating. While the waters at the mouth of the Columbia River remain among the most treacherous in the world those two lights have made the navigation much safer than it otherwise would have been.

Travel Planning? Currency Exchange? Here's How Not to Get Ripped Off

Travel Planning? Currency Exchange? Here's How Not to Get Ripped Off

By Norm Huffnagle

If you are planning on doing some International travel, you'll be faced with converting dollars to the local currency. I'm going to show you some traps and pitfalls you may encounter, and then I'll give you a few helpful tips that could make your travel go very smoothly.

When I first started traveling, it was always a hassle to go to my bank a month or so before departure and get a bundle of cash converted to my destination's local currency. The alternative was to convert a few hundred dollars at the airport "Foreign Exchange" booths. I came to find out that it was not only dangerous to carry large blocks of cash, it was also unnecessary.

Along the way I discovered that Las Vegas didn't have a lock on "One-Armed Bandits"!

Scam Artists

I can not emphasize too much that the world out there is ready, willing, and able to scam you ferociously. Money scams abound. Some are right there in plain sight.

Let's talk first about the "uncommon scams".

You're traveling through, say, a park near the Louvre in Paris, when someone comes up to you with a sob story in broken English and a bundle of local cash. He/she needs dollars for 'something' and he/she's willing to give you a fantastic exchange rate to get it. You bite. Money changes hands. They leave. You open the bundle and Surprise!!! It's a stack of newsprint with a real bill on the top and bottom.

GOTCHA!

Bank-O-Mat

The second 'legitimate scam' is waiting on the corner for you: it's a stand-alone ATM machine. It might even say "Friendly Bank-O-Mat". Believe me, friends, it's anything but. The hidden fees that little darlin' will extract will make Bonnie and Clyde proud! Don't do it!!!

Currency Exchange

The third, which is more of a rip-off than a scam, in my book, is the "Foreign Currency Exchanges" places. They're legitimate businesses, but since they are businesses, the have to charge a fee for their services. Even though they say "No commission," They are still pulling money from your pocket.

Bank ATM

My suggestion? Go to a bank ATM. It will cost you about 3% to take money from the bank ATM. The good news is that the ATM operates at the current official exchange rate, and since it's a bank, its fees are regulated. Check with your home bank to find out which banking symbol to look for. In my case, my bank is a member of Interbank, so I use ATMs that display the Interbank symbol. I know the fees are fixed, fair, and the exchange rate is the best I can get.

How to Find Banks

Before I travel, I use Google Maps to look at my destination city. I locate my hotel, and then I use Google's "Bank" filter to locate and make a list of all banks close to my hotel. On the day I arrive, I ask the desk clerk where the nearest bank is. If it matches one my list, we're off to the bank!

Other Considerations

I have found that no matter where I travel, I can always buy a taxi ride from the airport to my hotel with dollars. So I carry a minimal amount of dollars. (I'll need a few dollars when we get back to the States to pay for taxis and other transportation).

Norm Huffnagle enjoys traveling almost as much as he enjoys writing about traveling. From Beijing to Lisbon, Norm and his family are always looking for new adventures, new sights, new experiences, new restaurants! Along the way, they have discovered methods and techniques that have made their trips more enjoyable and almost hassle-free. This article on "Money Exchanges" is one of them. An excellent resource for the first-time international traveler is by an author that Norm recommends: Penelope Middleton. Her book, "Survival Guide for the First-Time Traveler: A Reference for the Rest of Us", is available on Amazon at http://amzn.com/B018F0WWN4

Mikhail Gorbachev

Mikhail Gorbachev

By Martin Hahn

Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev came into this world on March Second 1931 in the southern Russian province of Stravropol Krai. Born to peasant farmers, he started to be active in the Communist Party and also learned law at the Moscow State Faculty. While at faculty he met and also married Raisa Titarenko. One child, Irina was had by the couple.

Early political life

Gorbachev returned to Stavropol after graduation and also worked as a regional Communist Party official. Gorbachev studied for a 2nd degree in agriculture and then started to rise throughout the ranks of the provincial Communist Party.

Climbing the ranks

Having created a name for himself to be a regional modernizer and reformer, in 1978 he was summoned to Moscow and appointed to the farming main committee. Under the advice of senior Communist Party officials Gorbachev was quickly promoted to the Soviet Union's executive committee, the Politburo.

Becomes General Secretary of the Soviet Union

By the 1980s the Soviet economic climate was in radical need of change. In 1985, after 3 elderly leaders died in fast succession, Gorbachev, a protege of former Soviet leader Yuri Andropov, was appointed General Secretary as well as top leader of the Soviet Union. At fifty four he was among probably the youngest executives and also was viewed as the brand-new broom which could clear up the decrepit Soviet system.

Perestroika and Glasnost

Gorbachev hinged the efforts of his to revitalize the Soviet Union on two plans: glasnost (meaning openness) and also perestroika (meaning restructuring). By relaxing bureaucracy as well as censorship Gorbachev wished to change the Stalinist Soviet program into a far more contemporary modern democracy. While glasnost was commonly celebrated, the attempts of his to restructure the Soviet economy mostly floundered.

Nuclear summits

Gorbachev saw that huge sums of cash were being poured into the army to match the US. Desperate to regain this cash, a warmer connection with the West was fostered by Gorbachev. In a number of high profile summits Gorbachev met President Reagan and the two men made crucial nuclear disarmament agreements. The thaw in relations efficiently signaled the conclusion of the Cold War.

The rise of nationalism

Inspired by glasnost, and comforted by Gorbachev's refusal to use military power, a few Warsaw Pact nations as well as Soviet republics declared the intentions of theirs to distance themselves from Communist rule. By the conclusion his tenure the Berlin Wall was pulled down and large republics like Ukraine, Lithuania and Belorussia had declared their independence.

The August Coup

In 1991 reactionary hard liners in the Communist Party, fearing the collapse of the Soviet Union, attempted to get rid of Gorbachev. Imprisoned in his dacha vacation house in the Crimea Gorbachev listened on the air since the army attempted to grab control of the Russian parliament. Thwarted by the endeavors of Russian President Boris Yeltsin and also mass protests the coup failed. Gorbachev returned to Moscow but quickly realised the balance of popular support and power had shifted to Yeltsin.

The conclusion of the Soviet Union

After the unsuccessful coup Yeltsin struck two hits which properly ended the Soviet Union. For starters, as President of the Russian federation, he banned almost all Communist Party activity on Russian soil. Secondly, together with the presidents of Belorussia and Ukraine, signed a treaty to make a brand new commonwealth of republics. Without these crucial nations the Soviet Union was defunct. Gorbachev recognized the unavoidable and resigned.

Retirement

After developing several new parties and failing to gain support, Gorbachev's political career was over. In retirement he established the Gorbachev Foundation - a think tank in charge of exploring Russian political policies.

Leonid Brezhnev

Leonid Brezhnev

By Martin Hahn

Having been a land surveyor in the 1920s, Brezhnev turned into a full part of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1931 and studied at the metallurgical institute in Kamenskoye (now Dniprodzerzhynsk). After graduating (1935), he functioned as an engineer and also director of a technical college and also held a wide variety of local party posts; his career flourished under Joseph Stalin's rule, and also by 1939 he'd become secretary of the local party committee of Dnepropetrovsk (Dnipropetrovsk). During World War II Brezhnev served as a political commissar in the Red Army, improving in rank until he turned into a major general (1943) as well as head of the political commissars on the Ukrainian front.

After the war he once again held posts as chief of several local party committees in Ukraine. In 1950 he was sent to Moldavia as first secretary of the Moldavian Communist Party with the job of sovietizing the Romanian public of which recently conquered territory. In 1952 he advanced to be a member of the Central Committee of the CPSU and also a candidate member of the Politburo.

When Stalin died (March 1953), Brezhnev had to drop his post in the Central Committee and also in the Politburo and had to acceprt the role of deputy head of the political department of the Ministry of Defense with the rank of lieutenant general. But in 1954 Nikita Khrushchev, who had achieved total control in Moscow, made Brezhnev secretary of the Kazakhstan Communist Party (1954), in which he vigorously implemented Khrushchev's driven Virgin as well as Idle Lands Campaign in Kazakhstan. Brezhnev was quickly promoted to very first secretary of the Kazakhstan Communist Party (1955), and also in 1956 he was reelected to the posts of the CPSU Central Committee and also in the Politburo. A season later, after he'd loyally worked against the anti-party team which attempted to eliminate Khrushchev, Brezhnev was made a full member of the Politburo, and also in 1960 he became chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet - i.e., the titular top of the Soviet state. In July 1964 he resigned the blog post to be Khrushchev's assistant as next secretary of the Central Committee, by that point he was regarded as Khrushchev's heir apparent as party leader. Three weeks later, nonetheless, Brezhnev really helped direct the coalition that forced Khrushchev from strength, and, in the division of spoils that followed, Brezhnev started to be first secretary (after 1966, general secretary) of the CPSU (October fifteen, 1964). Following a brief time of collective leadership with Premier Aleksey Kosygin, Brezhnev emerged clearly as the dominant figure.

As top of the party, Brezhnev left many affairs of state - e.g., diplomatic relations with non-communist states and domestic economic development - to his co-workers Nikolay and Kosygin V. Podgorny, chairman of the Presidium. Brezhnev concentrated on military and foreign affairs. When Czechoslovakia under Alexander Dubek attempted to liberalize the communist system in his country in 1967/68, the principle was created by Brezhnev, widely known in the West as the Brezhnev Doctrine, that asserted the right of Soviet intervention in situations where essential common interests of various other socialist nations are compromised by one of their number. This doctrine was used as the rationale for the intrusion of Czechoslovakia near the Soviets and their Warsaw Pact friends in 1968.

During the 1970s Brezhnev attempted to normalize relations between West Germany and also the Warsaw Pact and also to ease tensions with the United States throughout the policy referred to as detente. Under his leadership, the Soviet Union's military industrial complex was greatly expanded and modernized. Under the leadership of his, the Soviets attained parity together with the United States in strategic nuclear weapons, and their space plan overtook the American one. A huge navy was equipped out and the army stayed the largest on the planet. The Soviet Union supported wars of national liberation in developing nations through the provision of military help to left wing movements and governments.

But Brezhnev's unceasing build up of the defense of his and aerospace industries left some other sectors of the economic system increasingly deprived of money. Health-care services, consumer-goods industries, and soviet agriculture declined throughout the 1970s and early' 80s as a consequence, resulting in shortages and decreasing requirements of existing.

In 1976 Brezhnev was made marshal of the Soviet Union, therefore becoming the one other party leader after Stalin to support the greatest military rank. The method of collective leadership concluded with the dismissal of Podgorny as chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet in May 1977 and Brezhnev's election to that particular position the next month. He therefore became the very first person in Soviet record to hold both the leadership of the party and the state. In 1979 Brezhnev reached agreement with U.S. President Jimmy Carter on a brand new bilateral strategic arms limitation treaty (SALT II), although the U.S. Senate refused to ratify the treaty, as well as shortly after the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan (December 1979) in an attempt to prop up a faltering communist regime there. Brezhnev's government even helped General Wojciech Jaruzelski's suppression of Poland's Solidarity union in December 1981. The efforts of his to neutralize inner dissent within the Soviet Union itself had been similarly determined.

Brezhnev held on to the hold of his on power to the conclusion despite his frail healthiness and increasing feebleness. He gave the Soviet Union a formidable military industrial foundation capable of providing big amounts of the most contemporary weapons, but in so doing he impoverished the majority of the Soviet economic climate. After the death of his, he was criticized for a gradual slide in existing requirements, the spread of cronyism and corruption inside the Soviet bureaucracy, as well as the typically stagnant & dispiriting character of Soviet life in the late 1970s and early' 80s.

Live Story on Pakistani Tea in 2018 - Saavi Ka Chai Kahwa

Live Story on Pakistani Tea in 2018 - Saavi Ka Chai Kahwa

By Ramani Swarna

I simply looked at Shri Dr.N.K.Bahl and did not utter a single word-the moment he mentioned about Kahwa in Pakistan. I immediately counter-questioned him, "Kahwa in Pakistan?". He nodded and stared at me as though I doubted his knowledge about teas. As usual, I asked him to share his memories about it (he was narrating his experiences about the travel from Rawalpindi to India during the partition times). I love to know more about the partition and displacement memories from various individuals.

I noted down them and learnt a lot about different topics. According to him, Pakistani Kahwa tea is called SAAVI KA CHAI( which means Tea prepared from Saavi leaves-special kind of tea leaves). These leaves were not available in any of the grocery or retail stores. I even tried at the whole sale markets of Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk(an area situated at Old Delhi). Dr.Bahl promised to get me the tea leaves.

Later on, he explained the process of brewing the tea leaves. According to him, it was called "The Hot and Wet Preparation Of Tea". I was curious to know more about it. He narrated that his mother used to prepare for the entire family (he belonged to the joint family). The tea possesses some medicinal values and given to the entire family without any kind of restrictions. It seems that it is a unique kind of tea. The small children and senior members of the family consumed it regularly in the severe cold of the winter. It helped in fighting against the cold and keep warm in the cold season. Secondly, the consumption of it saved one from bronchial infections and allergies. Thirdly, it has the medicinal values to prevent mucus formation and dry coughs. Lastly, it remains to be the best beverage in their family.

He continued his story and added," My mother prepared the best tea and each one of the family member requested her to make the tea whenever there was an occasion or family gatherings in the evening hours of a day. She used to spend atleast 15 minutes to brew the leaves and get the final end product of the beverage. She used to take two spoons of teas leaves in a container. In another bowl; she added two cups of water and allowed the water to boil for few minutes.. The moment the water boiled in the bowl, she added the tea leaves and allowed to them to brew for some more time. After allowing the water and tea leaves to give the desired flavor and color of dark brown, she used to add some water to it. Allow it to brew for some more time. Now finally she added one more cup of cold water and brew for another 5 minutes or so. This was called the HOT and WET preparation of tea. As the tea was being brewed again and again; she added the powdered small green and black cardamoms to the tea. This was used to enhance the flavor of the cardamoms in it. No milk was added into it. It was the green tea called Kahwa. This was special tea prepared in the Rawalpindi regions of Pakistan."

After two weeks, I received the call from Dr.Bahl. He shared the information that he got the tea leaves for me from Dehradun, Uttar Pradesh. To my astonishment, I discovered that Saavi tea leaves were available only in few places of India. Nevertheless, I prepared the tea in the same manner as instructed by Dr.Bahl. Since I like green tea and give importance to the traditional preparations, I admired the tea color and stared at it for a long time.

Tea... partition times... memories of the family moving from Rawalpindi to Dehradun and sharing the information with me... all was rolled together for this cup of tea for me. Before I could sip it, I thanked to myself and felt lucky to drink Kahwa prepared from Pakistani Tea leaves called Saavi. Hail to all members of the Bahl family. This is the living story of SAAVI KI CHAI.

This is the story of tea which was present in Hindustan before partition. In September 1946, it travelled from Rawalpindi to Amritsar. Soon it was rooted in the REFUGEES COLONY in Dehradun. Now one may find the tea store in Dehradun selling the SAAVI tea leaves. I wonder how tea leaves are reaching to Dehradun from Pakistan. Nevertheless individuals like Dr.Bahl and his family members relish the tea and attached to it are the memories of their leisure and gatherings in the courtyard of their homes in Pakistan. Lost are the individuals... lost are their homes and businesses... lost is their land and property... yet one thing still remains in their memories and it is SAAVI KI CHAI.

Now I am also part of it and prepare it for myself and my guests with the share of the story of Saavi Ki Chai-GREEN TEA OF PAKISTAN.

The Many Benefits of Sandalwood

The Many Benefits of Sandalwood

By Anand Kumar

Sandalwood is produced from the sandal tree and it is scientifically known as Santalaceae Santalum Album. It has also been proved that almonds help in keeping the blood sugar levels regulated and prevent the insulin from spiking when they are taken after meals. They are a great snack for those who want to stay away from sugary, processed foods. They can also help you to reduce your craving for sugary snacks if you take them during the day.

The good news here is that almonds are one of the only nuts that have an alkalizing effect on your body.

Almonds can be taken raw, soaked and in powdery form. Their oil is well-known in ayurvedic cooking because of its smoothness and soft flavour. The Many Health Benefits of Aloe Vera You Must Know

The Many Health Benefits of Aloe Vera You Must Know

By Anand Kumar

Aloe vera is one of the chief plants used in folk-medicine. Its healing benefits were recognized in the ancient Indian, Chinese, Greek and Roman civilizations. The Egyptians refer to it as "the plant of immortality" and it is usually among the funeral gifts buried with the pharaohs. In the traditional setting, aloe vera is used for healing wounds, relieving itching as well as swelling and it is known for its antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory properties.

Aloe vera is a member of the lily family and is one to two feet tall. Its leaves are succulent, with a broad base, pointed tips and spines along the edges. Its leaves contain the healing gel which is 96% water, while the remaining 4% contains Vitamins A, B, C, and E; calcium; amino acids for protein building; and enzymes used in the digestive system. It has over 240 species but unfortunately, only four of them have medicinal values. The most potent of all the species is the aloe barbadensis and it is important to note that aloe vera, which is native to North Africa as well as Spain, is also grown in the hot regions of Asia, Europe and America.

The healing potential of aloe vera stems from its ability to prevent injury to the epithelial tissues and help in the healing of injured tissues. An epithelium is a layer of cells covering the body and our largest epithelium is the skin. Aloe is very beneficial in soothing many skin ailments like mild cuts, insect stings, bruises, eczema and so on. Research has also shown that it has antifungal as well as antibacterial properties and boosts blood flow to wounded areas. It also helps in the production of fibroblast (the skin cell responsible for wound healing) and collagen (the protein that controls the aging process of the skin as well as wrinkling).

Moreover, when aloe vera juice is taken internally, it aids digestion, helps control blood sugar, boosts energy production, promotes cardiovascular health and improves the immune system. It helps in clearing toxins from the digestive system and improves the functioning of the liver, kidneys as well as gall bladder. Its anti-inflammatory fatty acids alkalize the digestive juices and guide against acidity which causes indigestion. These fatty acids are not only beneficial to the stomach but also to the small intestine and colon. However, it is not advisable for pregnant women and children under five years of age to take aloe vera internally.

5 Ways to Protect Your Skin From Aging

5 Ways to Protect Your Skin From Aging

By Anand Kumar

You really don't want to get old, do you? But whether we like it or not, we are all going to be old someday. However, taking good care of your skin will make it look youthful and your admirers will have a difficult time guessing your real age. If you adhere to these five tips, you will not only have a radiant skin, but a glowing one.

1. Protect yourself from the sun as much as possible

Even though the sun is a source of energy and vitamin D, you should endeavor to protect yourself from direct exposure to midday and afternoon sun. Short period exposure to early morning sunlight is soothing to the skin and allows it to absorb the necessary vitamin D, but when the sun is directly overhead, you should protect yourself by wearing a hat and putting on a pair of sunglasses.

2. Figure out the best foods for your skin type

You need to know your skin type in order to figure out the best food for it. If you have an oily skin, you probably will have to struggle with enlarged pores, excessive oil, pimples, etc. As a result of this, you should avoid excessive intake of oily foods. If you have a dry skin, your struggle will probably be with rashes, sun spots and the likes, hence, you should give priority to warm, greasy foods so that the dryness can be countered.

3. Soothe your stress away

There are three types of stress - mental, emotional and physical. Mental stress can lead to moisture imbalance of the skin. To fight mental stress, you should ensure that you take balanced diets at all times. Diet is also very important for fighting emotional stress, which also affects the skin. Intake of taking food supplements will be of great help if you really want to tackle emotional stress. Physical stress is caused when you work or exercise too much and you can avoid this by knowing the amount of work or exercise you have stamina for. You can also try daily meditation as it is a tested reliever of all types of stress.

4. Rehydrate from inside

Drinking enough water daily will rehydrate your skin and prevent its inner layers from drying out. You can add spices to the water and this will ensure that the water is easily absorbed by the body. Some of the spices you can use are ginger, basil leaves, cumin seeds, coriander seeds and so on.

5. Massaging daily

Massaging your body daily will make your skin look young and healthy. The restorative herbs and oil used for massage keep the skin supple and youthful. In order to get the best result, you should massage your whole body before your bath or shower.

How Will Virtualization Change Entertainment?

How Will Virtualization Change Entertainment?

By Rosina S Khan

What is happening to the entertainment sector? Do you notice any changes? What are some of them? Are they going for the better or worse? Read on to find out.

In fact, it is all becoming virtual from the comfort of homes accessing movies, cartoons, online games and the lot via digital gadgets. It has downsides as well. It concerns less about body movements- just sitting down in a place and enjoying. While this is good for short durations, if you linger on for hours and hours, it becomes a bad habit and you begin to suffer.

It is more oriented towards watching screens rather than enjoying natural greeneries and mother nature, which defined entertainment in the good old days.

Virtual entertainment can be very interesting and unstoppable taking you on the point of addiction which is nothing blissful and healthy like a ride on the swing or merry-go-round at the local park.

While both the young and adults enjoy virtual entertainment a lot, it can actually start to become detrimental to your health by sitting stiff on a chair or bed, being glued to the screen. You also start to fail on your daily responsibilities for instance, shopping, picking up kids from school or your other own work tasks.

While you do need a little entertainment for yourself to take some time out from the daily grind of schedule, you cannot forget that virtualization should be limited and balanced.

Summing up, virtual entertainment is good but only for a little time. These schemes make your eyes glued to the screen so much that you find it difficult to take your eyes off. Therefore, it is not a good omen for your body and eyes. Because your eyesight suffers and you become lethargic as well as less active and energetic. So the best way to pace yourself through your days is to time yourself while entertaining virtually through an alarm clock, reminding yourself when to go back to your day's responsibilities.

Additionally, this life is too precious to waste long hours on entertainment that is virtual. Instead for a change, take your family out for a long drive and enjoy nature and the gentle breeze blowing your hair with soft music in the background CD player of your car. You will love it along with your kids and it will become an indelible memory years later when your kids will have left home for their own destinies and you will probably have only your spouse then to reminisce them with her.

So this is really the moment to enjoy - that also with your family. Give it your best shot and live life to the fullest. Virtualization can take a back seat for the time being. Gotcha?
