Creatine: Safety, Benefits, and How It Works

Creatine. It is the most well known, as well as the most studied supplement in the industry right behind whey. There are studies going back decades with pretty conclusive evidence that points to creatine being extremely safe. But if creatine has so many studies, then why does it have so much opposition? My opinion is that most opposition is due to a lack of understanding. Average people do not understand creatine. When a 12 year old boy wants to start lifting weights and tells their mom they want to buy a magical powder that will make him big and strong, his mom is absolutely correct to worry. After all, something that makes you build muscle and strength is probably a steroid, right? Possibly. But that is not what creatine does.

Is Creatine a Steroid?

The short answer: Absolutely not. To understand why creatine is not a steroid, you must first understand what a steroid actually is.

What are Steroids?

Why is it that males are almost always more muscular than females? Why can a man naturally be 200 pounds of muscle, but a woman will never naturally reach that level of muscularity? Simply put, males naturally produce a hormone called testosterone. You have most likely heard of it. Testosterone is what makes a man a man. It's what causes his deep voice, body hair, facial hair, strength, and what we think of as masculine instincts. It's what causes males to fight over females, in human social settings and in nature. A performance enhancing steroid is basically synthetic testosterone, or other synthesized hormones that are actually more anabolic than testosterone. Some steroids are not even found in nature. Steroids can carry some nasty side effects and a lot of health risks later on in life.

What is Creatine?

So now that we have a basic understanding of what steroids are, what is creatine?

Creatine is found in almost every animal, including humans. We get it from meat and we naturally synthesize it. Creatine is a completely natural organic acid that provides cellular energy to your cells. It is found in the highest concentrations in muscle cells. Creatine and steroids can not even be compared. One works hormonally, one works inside of your cells naturally. Creatine will not make you superhuman like steroids. Steroids can push your body past physiological limits. With years of training and a perfect diet might be able to be a little over 200 lbs of lean muscle naturally. With steroids you can put on another 20-50 pounds. If you are pushing your body past a natural limit, you are putting multiple organs under extreme stress, especially your heart. Creatine does no such thing. Creatine will indirectly help you add strength and mass by allowing your muscle cells to work just a bit harder.

How Does Creatine Work?

If you were awake for high school biology, you probably learned about cellular energy. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP), glucose, cellular respiration, and all of that fun stuff. If not, I will give you the brief rundown.

You cells contain a bit of a molecule called adenosine triphosphate. You cell generates energy by breaking a phosphate bond in the mitochondria. Any time a bond is broken, energy is released. The adenosine triphosphate then becomes adenosine diphosphate (ADP), and needs to find another phosphate atom to bond with so that it can break it in the mitochondria. Creatine bond with phosphate and becomes phosphocreatine, which is stored in the cells. Phosphocreatine can rapidly turn ADP into much needed ATP. That ATP can then go break another bond for cellular energy.

Think of your cells as a steam engine train. The ATP represents a worker that has a shovel full of coal, while the ADP represents a worker with an empty shovel. The ADP worker has to go to the next car over to get a shovel of coal to put in the fire to keep the train running. Creatine would represent a supply of coal in the same car as the fire. The ADP worker would have to walk a few feet instead of to the next car over to get the much needed coal, which represents phosphate. It is a natural function of life. Creatine is already working in your body keeping your cells alive and energized.

So Why Supplement More?

The concentrations of phosphocreatine in your cells is not even close to the maximum. Your whole body can use about 5 grams of creatine. The concentration in your cells varies, but it is much lower. There comes a point in time during high exertion activities where your muscle cell's phosphocreatine levels will come close to zero. That means your cells will have to rely on inefficient glycolysis for energy. That process is slow, generates very little energy, and causes more lactic acid buildup, which causes the burn you feel in your muscles. When you supplement with additional creatine, your phosphocreatine levels will stay higher for longer. This does not turn you into a superhuman and it won't add 50 pounds to your bench. The additional phosphocreatine will give you a small, but noticeable boost in your workouts. You might be able to lift a few pounds more, or the same weight for a couple extra reps. This might not sound like much, but overtime if you are doing an extra 1-3 reps, you will build muscle and gain strength faster. However, creatine WILL cause you to gain weight right away. Gaining 5 pounds is not unheard of. This is not hard muscle gain though, that is extra water weight that the phosphocreatine adds to your muscle cells.

Why Do People Think Creatine Is Bad?

Creatine CAN cause some minor issues if you do not take it the right way. It can cause cramping, and minor stomach issues. Those are both due to dehydration. If you supplement creatine, your muscle cells are using more water, which means you definitely need to increase your water intake. Increasing your water intake will also lead to benefits in other areas of your life as well. Some people also say it is bad for your kidneys. The only slight possibility of that is from extreme dehydration. But for that to actually happen, you would need to be very dehydrated before starting your supplementation. There are also a small handful of people that will tell you creatine is bad for your heart. This is because those people have not taken the time to research and learn that it is NOT a steroid.

How to Supplement Creatine

Their are many forms of creatine, all with their own claim to fame. Most of these will work just as well, but they are much more expensive. The best and cheapest way to go is with normal creatine monohydrate. This is the most studied, most popular, and cheapest form. I prefer Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder. Optimum Nutrition is one of the first brands in the supplement game. They make very pure and safe supplements for a great deal. This particular product is also the best seller in creatine.

Some people will tell you about a "loading phase", which is a means you take about 20 grams for your first week, then reduce to 5 grams every day. I am not a big believer in the loading phase, but you are more than welcome to try it and let me know what you thought. I start with 5 grams every day and keep it that way. It might take a day or two longer to take effect, but you are saving money.

Type 2 Diabetes - Is There a Difference Between Treatment and Management?

You are likely no stranger to Type 2 diabetes. The dramatic rise in the prevalence of Type 2 diabetes is very closely tied to the increase in obesity While you may not have personal experience with the disease, there is a good chance you are at least familiar. But when it comes to the treatment and management of Type 2 diabetes, you may find yourself lacking experience and knowledge in the matter.

For many people, treatment and management of a disease may appear to be the same. But there is a difference worth noting. And it is worth your attention because Type 2 diabetes may be something concerning you. It is not pessimistic to imagine yourself as a diabetic, considering having high blood sugar levels and being overweight or obese are now such common conditions.

Prevention is number one. But if you find you have this form of diabetes, the next steps for you to take will include treatment and management. That being said, treatment and management are different.

Let us start with the management side. Managing a disease is primarily a means of preventing it from developing further. In the case of Type 2 diabetes, management involves taking action to prevent blood sugar levels continuing to rise. With moderation and a sensible diet, one could prevent the exacerbation of disease and the growth of its associated complications.

Treatment, on the other hand, is a means of recovering. It is a way to reverse or undo the disease. With Type 2 diabetes, treatment consists of restoring blood sugar levels to a healthy range. Treating this form of diabetes is a process, similar to managing it. But it is a lengthy one, and it requires an amount of commitment and effort that should not be underestimated. Fortunately, it is worth it in the end. A life free of out of control blood sugar levels is priceless when you consider the debilitating and potentially lethal ramifications associated with them.

Managing a disease comes before its treatment. It is only with proper management, treatment can begin to take place. Consider the former to be a foundation. If diseases like obesity and Type 2 diabetes are not brought to a halt, how could they ever be treated?

Also, while treatment is a lengthy process that could take months or years, management is something you could do overnight. With quick changes to your lifestyle, you could make an immediate difference, not to mention begin caring for your well-being.

Essentially, management is where it starts, and treatment is where it potentially ends. It all depends on the choices you make. The same lifestyle changes that might have prevented Type 2 diabetes developing can help you to treat it.

There is no telling what is in store for us as we age. Some diseases may come and go, but only if we are willing to manage and treat them.

Although managing your disease can be very challenging, Type 2 diabetes is not a condition you must just live with. You can make simple changes to your daily routine and lower both your weight and your blood sugar levels. Hang in there, the longer you do it, the easier it gets.

The answer isn't in the endless volumes of    available information but in yourself.

How to Find Blueprints of a Building

A blueprint is a map of a building. It ties the concept of design to the details required to erect a structure. Blueprints, otherwise known as architectural drawing sets, have been used since the 19th century and are a guide through the construction process. They are most commonly used by contractors to apply for building permits from the municipality within which the construction is taking place. Once the blueprints have been filed by the contractor with the building department of said municipality, they are public records and technically attainable by anyone wanting to view them.

However, finding blueprints of a building is not always as easy as one might think. Not all documents are digitally saved and some documents may not still exist, particularly for older structures. In some cases, the original may be in a box, in the depths of a storage unit or in the basement of a county clerk's office. Fortunately, in the 21st century, physical blueprints are not the norm and drawings using CAD and 3D models and more likely.

Many architects will be called upon for additions to existing buildings or renovations to commercial spaces. In situations like those, the blueprints of the original structure are necessary. But the question of how to find building blueprints is always coming up and the answer is not always straightforward. Whether you're a building owner embarking on a build out or an architect looking to copy the design of a commercial construction, here are four ways to get those blueprints in your hands as fast as possible.

Find the Contractor who constructed the property

Start your search with the contractor who originally constructed the property. If you don't know who that person is, the county clerk should have his/her information on file. It's possible that the county zoning board would also hold the original building permit, which would have the contractor's details on it. If you find the contractor but he/she doesn't have the blueprints, he might be able to direct you to someone who would.

The County Clerk holds the key (or document)

The other option is to start at the county clerk's office. County clerks are the official record keepers of documents pertaining to building construction and permits. Each office operates differently, which means that the process to secure the permit or record you need will be different. Some will charge a small fee to request access to original files, so be prepared when you request building blueprints.

Locate the original owners of the property

If the building was purchased from the same individuals who built it, they may have a copy of the blueprints. If not and they secured a construction loan to finance the building, the original lender may have the blueprints on file or be able to direct you to the construction company or contractor.

Consider An Architectural Expert

Another option to find blueprints of a building is to obtain a reproduction of the blueprints. This would be done through an architect and is probably the most cost prohibitive as well as time consuming. Ideally, use an architect with previous experience and familiarity either in the development of the property or type of structure being replicated.

The floor plan and 'map' of a building are crucial in the design and construction process, but not always straightforward to find. There are multiple ways to go about finding the blueprints, but it's somewhat of a guessing game on who has what. Fortunately, more and more professionals in the industry are adopting technological applications to support online document retrieval. Soon enough, everyone will be able to geo-locate and request access to any and all blueprints through innovative cloud based tools.

5 Reasons You Should Use Steel In Your Construction

When you are having a construction project it's always recommended that you use steel in your work. This is because steel has plenty of benefits that include:

Versatility

Whether you are looking to construct a factory, soccer field, airplane hangar, church or anything else, steel serves as a great alternative. The material is versatile as you can choose the look, feel, and finish you want to achieve. You can also mold it in any design that you want.

Strength

As you know, steel is tough; therefore, it's resistant to both natural and man-made elements. It can withstand fire, rust, rot and even termites. Due to these features, you can be confident that the building that you put up will be strong and withstand any calamities that might befall it.

Environmentally friendly

If you didn't know, steel is made from partially recycled products. During the manufacturing process, very little of it gets lost which greatly increases its environmental friendliness. In the event you want to bring down your building, you can always reuse and recycle the steel and use the recycled product to make other products. In addition to this, experts have shown that steel structures have little effect on the environment which makes steel a more attractive material.

Economical

The cost of construction is a very important factor in any construction project. If you have compared the cost of steel and other products you must have noticed that the price of steel is pretty low the same applies to the cost of construction. This makes the material a great alternative when you are looking to put up a structure on a constrained budget.

Easy to maintain

No one wants to incur huge costs maintaining a building. Once you have put up a steel property, you don't have to give it a lot of attention. To reduce the maintenance further you should ensure that the building has a sloped roof design, the steel is protected from rust, the frame is strong, and the cladding is durable.

Conclusion

These are the benefits that come with steel. Due to the popularity of the material, it's good to note that there are some people that might try selling you substandard materials to you. To avoid buying the wrong product you should take your time to research and ensure that you buy from a reputable store. You should also ensure that the steel you buy is installed by a certified professional.

Whether you are looking to put up sheet piles for cattle grids or any other structures we have a wide range of materials that you can use. We have steel, aluminum tube coil radiator and many others. Visit the given links to know more.

Apple's New Products - Get Ready for Red

Apple wants you to see "red", and hopefully buy one too.

The tech giant is releasing a new red phone hoping to capitalize on a vibrant color scheme that could appeal to its huge base of consumers.

The red phones are available in both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models. They feature a crimson aluminum finish.

The phones come in 128GB and 256GB storage variations. Pricing is inline or perhaps a little higher than other iPhone versions.

The 128GB version sells for $749. The iPhone 7 Plus goes for $869. Those enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program will be able to land one for $37 per month.

Apple has had a decade-long (RED) campaign, which contributes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. Apple said it's the world's largest corporate donor to the Global Fund, contributing more than $130 million. The red phone is said to be a piece of this strategy. The company will donate some money to the charity for each phone sold.

Fans of Apple were recently surprised too with the announcement of a new iPad. It replaces the Air 2 already on the market. It has a 9.7 inch retina display Apple is known for. It comes with a 64-bit A9 chip and 10 hours of battery life.

The iPad has many features Apple fans like such as Fingerprint, TouchID security. It comes with the ability to download and utilize over one million apps specifically for the device.

Also included is an 8-megapixel camera to shoot detailed images or 1080 HD video. Editing can be done them right on the iPad with Photos, iMovie, or an app from the App Store.

Pricing for the new iPad begins at $329 for a 32GB model. It can go up to a $559 for a model which has 128GB with cellular capability.

On a smaller scale, the iPhone SE is getting a boost in storage. Apple is phasing out the 16GB and 64GB models but doubling their storage capacities to 32GB and 128GB. The 4 inch screen phone is getting a little more powerful while the price remains the same at around $399.

Also of note is a new app called Clips. It is a free app and helps users combine video clips, photos and music to be shared through messages and social media. Clips will be available soon on iOS 10.3, with "artistic filters" shapes and emojis.

According to Apple, Clips will automatically recognize people in a video and suggest them as recipients of messages. The app then pulls in elements that are popular in Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Google Photos and others.

The newer devices, and lower priced iPad, are indications that Apple is redefining some products and the pricing structure. This new strategy takes direct aim at many lower priced competitors. The end result could leave much of the competition not only seeing red, but a lot more.

Survival - What Would Create an Emergency Survival Event? How Should We Begin to Be Prepared?

In today's environment, there are many emergency/survival events that are possible. We will briefly identify some of them.

*Totally unexpected events such as families or groups becoming lost on hiking trips.

*Being trapped inside a stranded or disabled car away from well-traveled areas.

*Storms, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, fires, or tornadoes.

*Economic collapse.

*Hostile invasion.

*Complete loss of out electrical grid and therefore loss of everything including the use of all or some of our electrical and communications equipment.

*Other disasters, a life-changing disaster can happen at any time.

These events can be for a short time or last for days, weeks or even months. Life as we know it could drastically be changed and can become a serious survival event for us and our families.

Plan ahead, begin preparing today, is one of the most important things that families can do. First prepare by admitting to yourself and your family that events can happen and that the need to prepare is a priority. Today time is on our side, in an emergency event resources may become nonexistent in a matter of hours. For example, groceries shelves could become bare in a very short time,

Next, begin educating ourselves as to what are the minimum survival tools, survival skills, food, medical supplies and other necessities that we will need to stay alive and exist. There are countless educational books, survival courses and articles available to help us plan for what supplies and skills we will need to have a better chance of survival.

Having disaster survival gear where you can access it in a hurry can be the difference between surviving and becoming a victim of the disaster. Don't let the list of necessary gear overwhelm you, instead develop a family plan and begin to purchase the most basic of these items. We must begin somewhere, for most of us it will take time. Time is important as we cannot know when an event will happen. Prepare to survive at school, office, home or in your car in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. In any of these situations, we must start now to be prepared.

Each family member must know their own responsibility in case of an emergency and be comfortable with it, this helps to prevent panic, Develop a plan and most of all practice on what to do in an emergency and have drills often.

You may have to suddenly abandon your home, do you know where you will go? Knowledge is power and there are times when we will need to rely mostly on ourselves. Wilderness survival could be the only way to get by. When in the wilderness our survival skills and abilities will be tested. Many of the early settlers survived in the wilderness and so can we is we prepare.

In summary, these are the steps to begin this important task;

*Admit there is a need

*Educate yourself and family

*Develop a comprehensive plan

*Begin to assemble the items needed to survive remembering that today, time is on our side

*Practice and drill

Bob Laurel has always advocated for people to be prepared in the event of an emergency event He helps run a website where they sell   survival gear. Shop their selection now. You can visit their site today at http://www.YourSurvivalPro.com

Fans Say Farewell To Popular Radio Station That Is Changing Formats

Several friends and I were discussing the demise of our favorite local radio station, which has been sold to a Christian broadcasting company. We will miss the eclectic mix of alternative rock, pop, and folk on the station, and we began to wonder what would be an appropriate last song to play before the change in format.

Here are ten tracks, all from bands who were often heard on the station, that would serve as a fitting coda.

One More Last Song by Kaiser Chiefs

This indie rock tune from Education, Education, Education and War epitomizes the station's dedication to alternative acts.

Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now by the Smiths

Morrissey's band, born about the same time as the station, has always been a favorite artist on it. The title sums up how many of us will feel after that final song is played.

Losing My Religion by REM

Some folks rely on spirituality for comfort, but many supporters of the station turn to the radio for that very reason. This title also makes sense in that a Bible company bought the station and will begin airing a Christian format in April.

Where Will You Go? by the Minus Five

This title from Down With Wilco is the question many of us fans are asking right now, for the radio choices in our city are rather narrow.

Up the Junction by Squeeze

Lyricist Chris Difford took this Cool For Cats title from a common British phrase for being in a troubled situation without much hope.

Troubled Times by Fountains of Wayne

Before "Stacy's Mom" became a huge hit for this New England indie rock quartet, our station had several tracks from their first two albums in heavy rotation.

No Sunlight by Death Cab For Cutie

Ben Gibbard and all of his projects remained favorites of the disc jockeys, who will unfortunately be no longer a bright spot on the radio dial.

You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go by Bob Dylan

In dark times there is no better record to play than Blood On the Tracks, which features this poignant heartbreaker.

1985 by the Minor Leagues

Ben Walpole's band fills two characteristics of the station, in that they are a local band as well as an indie rock act.

Not the Same by Ben Folds

The oldies station plays "Brick" occasionally, but it was our station that brought us dozens of other tracks by the guy who recorded "Rockin' the Suburbs."

Whatever serves as the last song, as soon as it ends we agreed that we will all need to find a different station for the preset 1 button on our dashboard radios.

While you are heading to your trip, don't ever forget to pack your swimsuits as those are critical for you if you want to enjoy your ride. It is but obvious that you would go for swimming while you are on board and its sunny outside. Planning to go in the pool? Put your swimsuits in the luggage right now!

Kid Items

People who are travelling with their children are the ones who have to be more conscious about their packing. You need to put all the necessary things that your child needs in daily routine.

First Aid Box

Another most important thing is the first aid box which is a must if you are travelling with your baby. Although the cruise you are travelling on already has first aid facilities but yet you know better what suits you more so don't forget to pack that emergency box.

Winter And Summer Clothes

Just keep this in your mind that you are travelling in water and you have to pass through many areas which have different weather. Some places might be cold, and some might be super sunny so always back both warm and winter clothes so that you can enjoy every weather.

Above are the few important things that you must keep in mind while heading on board. We hope you have a safe and memorable journey!

Traveling to Canary Islands for spending some quality time with family or oneself, is probably the best holiday plan you can ever make. Holidays to Gran Canaria will be the most exciting experience of your life.

Do Animals Have Neurons In Their Tails?

Most mammals have neurons in their spinal column, stomach and other locals, not just in their brains. It would stand to reason that some animals with tails will have some neurons in their tails since the spinal cord is all connected to the back-bone and central nervous system. It would make sense also then that the mammals with the longest tails will have a greater chance for neurons in their tails, and also more neurons in the tails of those mammal species that do have neurons in their tails. Let's discuss this.

I would like to use the Cheetah as an example in that Cheetahs seem to have neurons in their tail, as the tail has memory (more than just muscle memory, although it does have a significant muscle system in its tail), and is used as a balance whipping around as the Cheetah makes impossible break-neck speed turns and changes direction to chase down its prey. Read; "Balance in the cat: role of the tail and effects of sacrocaudal transection," by Curt Walker, Charles J. Vierck Jr., Louis A. Ritz, 1997.

In humans our spinal cord goes from the base of the skull down to our tailbones. In the H-shaped area of the spinal vertebra neurons are present. Sensory neurons interact with motor neurons by way of internerurons - we see this in our reflexes. When a Cheetah is able to whip its tail around at super high-speeds for balance it appears to have all that taking place by reflex, which the Cheetah could control by way of purposeful motion just as a horse can swat flies on its rump with its tail.

Let me digress for a moment and explain a reptile species. Even more interesting perhaps is the reality that the Gecko lizard sheds its tail upon being captured by a predator, and the tail keeps wiggling as a decoy keeping the predator busy, thinking it still has its prey and thus the Gecko continues to run away, living to fight another day. Read an article in Discovery News; "Gecko Tail Preprogrammed to Fool Predators," by Jennifer Viegas published on September 9, 2009.

You know it sure seems that evolution will find the best strategies to solve problems, especially ones which concern life and death matters, thus allowing members of the species to procreate its next generation and go on as a species, inability to solve such problems - overtime - mean that species will not go on. The ability of a Cheetah to catch its prey and eat is a matter of life and death, and I hypothesize that evolution has given this species neurons in its tail to allow it to turn on a dime at speeds of up to 60-mph, and it has neurons in its tail that better allow it to do just that. Please consider all this and research it if you are able.

Translation Services in India and Language Translators: An Overview

India is a country of multiple languages: 22 scheduled languages recognised by the Indian Constitution. In addition, there are more than 1500 languages and dialects used across the country. In no other country does the importance of translation take on such mammoth significance!

Tri-Language Treatment

Ah, the wisdom of the founders of the Indian Constitution!

They felt that every Indian needed three languages: one to identify with the local group (call it the mother tongue), one for national identity (Hindi), and one for international communication (English). Thus was born the Three Language Formula.

Three languages are bare minimum: just enough to get through school and college but certainly not enough for all the activities that make up life in the modern world.

Need for translation within India

Just run through all the channels on TV. Think of all the movies that you have seen dubbed into various languages: don't marvel at James Bond speaking fluent Hindi or Rajnikant being the new (or old?) Japanese heartthrob! Consider that a friend was awarded for translating science books into Urdu- something much needed.

Music, literature, films, TV shows, political speeches, textbooks, documents, and innumerable written and oral necessities require translation to transcend regional boundaries. Effective translation is essential to reflect local languages, sentiments, and ethos.

India, the Global player

Acknowledging the attraction that India, with a population of 1.25 billion, holds, Google's top boss, Sundar Pichai says, "India shapes how we build products. If something works in India, it will work globally."

India is playing meaty roles on the international stage and is all set to play bigger parts and star leads. This isn't possible unless communication ceases to be a barrier: thus, the need for translation services. Multi-national = multi-lingual: let there be no doubt.

Why Translation?

Translation is important for companies and businesses which operate in multiple regions and countries to share information, make government proposals, tie-up with local businesses, in short, for all the multifarious activities that get everyone involved on the same page.

A country's external affairs, in the world of international diplomacy, demand that ideas, points of view and negotiations are put forward clearly and accurately. Diplomats and world leaders are most lucid in their tongues; translation inaccuracies can cause significant problems.

Creative content like literature, video and audio content, subtitles for movies and TV content, etc. need creative translation to be able to strike a chord with target audiences.

Every local channel on TV has a capsule of international news. How would this be possible without translation services? The news is a crusade for free and fair living, and translation is all the more important to make reliable news accessible to everyone.

The World Wide Web and the Internet have brought together 'far-flung neighbours' by negating the concepts of distance and boundary. The rich and diverse human community cannot co-exist and thrive without communication. Translation and translation services are no longer an option; they are a compulsion.

Translator par excellence

Simply put, translation converts the text/content of a source language (SL) into an accurate and understandable version of the target language (TL). Successful translation is never mechanical: it is creative.

This is why excellence in translation requires translators of quality.

A good translator should be fluent in at least two languages.

He/ she must have more than a working knowledge of the languages.

He/she must be comfortable in the linguistic systems as well as the relevant cultures. In other words, the 'feel' for language is what makes for successful translation.

Excellence in translation requires adequate knowledge of the subject. Technical translations, legal jargon, religious translations, and scientific journals need in-depth knowledge. Accurate translations are not possible when you grope in the darkness of limited knowledge.

A good translator is also a good researcher when necessary. When in doubt, check and recheck: this should be the motto.

Accurate translation may need some tools and aids like dictionaries, encyclopedias, glossaries of technical and scholarly works, etc. The conscientious translator will make use of one or all of such tools. Discussions and consultations to clear doubts are also advisable.

The style, as well as the content of translation, should be true to the original. The challenge in translating is that the translator is not the original author but the translated material should read like it is the original and not a poor copy.

Translators need the patience to do a thorough job. Timely work is of the utmost importance too. So a good translator cannot afford to be a clock-watcher but must have an eye on the clock!

Excellence in translation rarely means mere reproduction and replication. If you think of language as a window to a world, then every language is a different window which will show you a different view. That is why mechanical/ computer translations are never adequate and ill-advised.

Translation Services in India

When communication is a prerequisite, so is translation: whether it is between languages spoken in India or to move freely across global platforms.

Businesses must realise that professional translation services offer them access to expertise and resources that only experts in translations are familiar with. So, why not concentrate on the core business and delegate translation to the most competent?

It is also important to choose a translation service that has the highest ethical standards of confidentiality and will keep all work safe and secure: someone who values intellectual property highly.

Excellence, Trust and Translation service should be the Tri-language Formula in modern India!

I am an Expert in the medium of translation and language services,   Translation Services in India. I have working knowledge in documents translation, Translate from English to German, and provide Multilingual E-mail Support.I am passionate in Localizing global brands to reach the target audience in the most efficient way.

Role Of Technology In Education

In the current world, technology plays a very big role. With every new day a new software, gadget or program is introduced into the market that claims to improve our lives in one way or another. However, it is important to know that despite the fact that technology plays a vital role in making our lives comfortable, it isn't the only role it has.

Technology is growing its role in the education field also. The more technology advances, the more advantages it provides for students at every level.

Technology in education:

We can use a lot of tools in our classrooms to help our students understand what they are being taught. For example, projectors and screens can be used for the students who are visual learners. These projection screens connected to computers can be put in classrooms so that the students see their notes as and listen to the instructor teach altogether. There are a number of sites like Wikipedia, Google etc. that are providing online solution for many academic problems.

There is a number of very useful software that can be used to help the class curriculum. Students can be provided with quizzes, tests, activities and sample questions that could help the student's progress with their learning process when they are not in the classroom.

Today, technology is being used to a good number of curriculum even those which do not belong to the technology and computers. Students make good use of computers to come up with presentations and also make good use of the internet to do research on different topics for their projects and papers.

Many students do parallel computer classes along with their education nowadays. This gives the guarantee that after completing their graduation, the students will not have any problems with using technology when they are out in their workplace or in their own business, which might help to make them more productive compared to a person who has no knowledge to a certain software or technology in school.

With the advancement in technology, students are getting more access to these types of educational opportunities. Every time something 'advanced' and 'new' is introduced into the market, the price of the existing technology goes down that makes it much more affordable in the educational set up even to those schools that might be having a lack of financial resources available to them.

Technology has grown to such a point that it can even help kids who are yet to begin their school. There are many educational systems and video games for the small children which help them in getting ready for school and in many conditions also give them a good start on their education.

There are a number of people who thinks that technology 'spoils' children. For example, they say that instead of sitting down and learning to know how to count, they will use a calculator. In spite of the fact that there are people who are making these types of arguments, the technology still remains to be a very important part of the society we live in today. By introducing it into our schools and classrooms, we will make sure that the students are equipped with much greater tools and knowledge to make their transition from school to the workplace in a very easy one. We need to realize the truth, technology is a reality in the world today and it has become essential in each and every part of our lives and education has without a doubt not been left behind. It is very beneficial in providing more knowledge to all our students and also on making them productive in the job market.

There are many new tools introduced in the field of online education and online tuition. You can get experience of these tools on ib fine educator and ib elite tutor

Purpose of Education

Education---like democracy, free markets, freedom of the press, and "universal human rights" --- is one of those subjects whose virtue is considered self-evident. So is the superiority of the industrially advanced countries in attaining them. Consequently, any package that arrives with one of these magic labels on it, automatically qualifies for the "green channel" at our entry ports. No questions asked. This uncritical acceptance has severely crippled our discussion of all these vital topics. For example in education most of our discussion centers around literacy statistics and the need to have so many graduates, masters, Phd's, and so many professionals --- engineers, doctors, etc.--- in a given country based on the standards in the industrially advanced countries. The central issue of curriculum, and even more fundamental issue of the purpose of education normally do not attract our attention; they have already been decided by the "advanced' countries for us and our job is only to follow in their footsteps to achieve their level of progress.

Indeed they have. In the "first" world, education has become an extension of the capitalist system. Its purpose is to provide qualified workforce for its machinery of production and eager consumers for its products. Stated in a more polished form, the purpose of education is to provide for the economic prosperity of a country. Similarly on a personal level today the purpose of education is to be able to earn a respectable living.

While earning halal living and providing for the economic well being of a country are certainly important Islamic goals as well, the linking of education to financial goals is extremely unfortunate. It turns the centers of learning into mere vocational centers in their outlook and spirit. It degrades education and through it the society.

To bring home the pivotal but forgotten role of education we need to recall that there is a fundamental difference between human beings and animals. Instincts and physical needs alone can bring ants, bees, or herds of beasts together to live in a perfectly functioning animal society. Human beings do not function that way. They are not constrained by nature to follow only those ways that are necessary for the harmonious operation of their society. If they are to form a viable, thriving society, they must chose to do so. What drives that choice is the sharing of common goals, beliefs, values and outlook on life. Without a common framework binding its members, a human society cannot continue to exist; it will disintegrate and be absorbed by other societies. Further, the society must ensure that the common ground will continue to hold from generation to generation. This is the real purpose of education. The education system of a society produces the citizens and leaders needed for the smooth operation of that society, now and into the future. Its state of health or sickness translates directly into the health or sickness of the society that it is meant to serve.

Today we find many internal problems --- corruption, injustice, oppression, crippling poverty --- everywhere we turn in the Muslim world. If we think about it, we may realize that most of these problems are man-made. Which is another way of saying that they are largely traceable, directly or indirectly, to the education system that produced the people who perpetuate the problems. The rulers who sell out to foreign powers and subjugate their people; the bureaucrats who enforce laws based on injustice; the generals who wage war against their own people; the businessmen who exploit and cheat; the journalists who lie, sensationalize, and promote indecencies, they are all educated people, in many cases "highly" educated people. Their education was meant to prepare them for the roles they are playing in real life. And it has, although in a very unexpected way!

The problem plagues all layers of society. Why are Muslim communities in the grip of so much materialism today? What should we expect when our entire education system is preaching the gospel of materialism? Why have we effectively relegated Islam to a small inconsequential quarter in our public life? Because that is precisely where our secular education system has put it. Why in our behavior toward each other we see so little display of Islamic manners and morals? Because our imported education system is devoid of all moral training. Why our societies are sick? Because our education system is sick.

This is the real crisis of education. Before we got into this mess by importing from the Colonial powers what was current and popular, education in our societies was always the means of nurturing the human being. Moral training, tarbiya, was always an inalienable part of it. The ustaz,(teacher), was not just a lecturer or mere professional, but a mentor and moral guide. We remembered the hadith then, "No father has given a greater gift to his children than good moral training." [Tirmidhi]. Our education system was informed by this hadith. Our darul-ulooms still maintain that tradition but the number of students who pass through their gates is minuscule compared to the secular schools.

In the U.S. and Europe, the schools were started by the church. Later as forces of capitalism overtook them, they molded them into their image. Moral training was a casualty of that takeover. But capitalism and their political economy did need people trained to work under these systems. So citizenship training was retained as an important, though diminishing, component of the curriculum--- a religion-free subset of the moral training it displaced. Whatever civility we see here is largely a result of that leftover component. The imported versions in the Muslim countries, though, had even that component filtered out. And the results are visible.

We can solve our problem once we realize our mistakes. The first purpose of our education system must be to produce qualified citizens and leaders for the Islamic society. Tarbiya, real Islamic moral training, must be an integral part of it. This must be the soul of our education, not a ceremonial husk. All plans for improving our education will be totally useless unless they are based on a full understanding of this key fact. This requires revamping our curricula, rewriting our textbooks, retraining our teachers, and realizing that we must do all this ourselves. We do have a rich history of doing it. Are we finally willing to turn to our own in-house treasures to redo education the way it should always have been?

Flash Fiction: How to Lose a Guy

"I love him, I love him not.

"I love him, I love him not.

"Oh, Shit, I love him. Do I really love him?

"I don't know. It's just been three months, and his possessiveness has started bothering me. What to do with this Yasir named adhesive gel?"

Ezra asked Jasmine as she irritatingly plucked the last of the rose petal and tossed the twig in the overgrown wild bushes of the campus backyard.

"I think you better dump him and walk off. Three months! I swear I can't go beyond one month with the same guy." Jasmine raised her eyebrows taking a sip of her soft drink

"I know dear with so many attractive faces roaming around, it's not wise to stick with a single guy. But, there should be a reason for the breakup. And, all my breakup skills fail when it comes to Yasir." Ezra threaded her hair with her fingers leaning against the back of the backyard bench.

"He's a mind controller it seems. Why don't you ask him to meet you at a coffee shop and then turn up with a hot-looking guy, you know." Jasmine nibbled on her sandwich as she handed the soda can to Ezra.

"Foolish. Think something else," Ezra said before sipping the cold drink.

"Okay... How about this - You go with him but drool over other hot-looking dudes. I'm sure he'll dump you. I'm telling you - this trick works amazingly well with possessive jerks."

"This sounds awful."

"Fine, the last - you kiss his best friend making sure he watches you while you do the act."

"I can't kiss his best friend." Ezra painfully curved her lips.

"Why?"

"Because Chirag has chapped lips, and he also suffers from gingivitis. Yasir told me once. Yuck!"

"Oh! God save his girlfriend from getting bleeding gums." Jasmine took a deep breath as she grabbed the Coke can from Ezra.

Bring Bring

Ezra's cell phone vibrated in her purse.

"Talk of the devil and the devil's here. It's Chirag," Ezra muttered as she swiped the cell phone to attend Chirag's call.

"What? How? Where?" She fired a series of questions on the caller as she rose to her feet and ran towards the main college premises.

"Yeah, I'm coming where is he?" Keeping the cell phone closer to her ear, she hastily ran to the interior courtyard while Jasmine tailed her till the end of the crowded hallway.

"What happened? You're running like a shepherd boy who has lost all his sheep in the jungle." Jasmine called her from behind.

"Yasir not well. He met with an accident. He's sitting in the canteen."

"Canteen?," Jasmine's eyes narrowed and her eyebrows grew V. "He should be in the hospital. What is he doing in the canteen? Eating samosas huh?"

"It's a minor one silly. I need to go see him."

"This is the time silly. Don't bother and he'll think you don't care and will finally leave you."

"This isn't the time Jass. Hope he's alright." Her eyes glazed as she strode towards the college canteen.

Academic and Career Planning - A K-12 Necessity

Student loan debt sits today at about $1.3 trillion. Studies show that many 30-40 year old college graduates will have a lower standard of living than their parents and are not able to purchase homes because of one thing - student loan debt. Seventy percent of all jobs require a two-year degree or less, yet we dangle the mantra that career and academic success ride on the attainment of that proverbial four-year Bachelor's degree. In other words, we are encouraging our students to mortgage their futures for a college degree that might not be necessary. Why?

The annual Manpower Talent Shortage Survey lists the top 10 jobs companies cannot fill. Most require an education level of a two-year degree or less. A University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee skills gap report shows that 70% of prospective job openings in Wisconsin through 2020 will require an education level of a high school diploma or less, and then goes on to say, "even if every unemployed person were perfectly matched to existing jobs, over 2/3 of all jobless would still be out of work." Why?

When I speak to high school career planning classes, I ask if anyone is considering a two-year degree, diploma, or apprenticeship. Five to six percent of the students respond with a "yes." The rest of the students indicate they are looking at colleges offering four-year degrees. We then whiteboard their career areas of interest. Ninety-five percent of them would require only a two-year degree or less to enter their chosen field. Only 7 to 9% of high school graduates go on to a technical college. The average age of a technical college student is 30. Why?

In Milwaukee, certain demographic populations have unemployment rates between 30 and 50%. Employers are starved for skilled employees. Technical colleges cannot attract enough students to meet the industry demand for skilled workers, and enrollments are down over 10% at Wisconsin technical colleges. Why?

For years we have told students to stay out of the trades, factories, customer service, and information technology careers because they were being outsourced or they were dead end positions. They all now reside at the top of the Manpower Talent Shortage Survey. We tell our children throughout their K-12 years that you need a college degree to be successful. You even hear, "in the future, every job will require a college degree" even though the data does not support that. Why?

Students choose careers for the wrong reasons. Their father was an accountant; it looked cool on television; it pays big bucks - not because it matches their personal interests and attributes. My classes are full of students with college degrees that did not like their career choice or now need the hands-on skills in order to get a job they did not get with their existing degree. That is nothing but foolish and very expensive! Seventy percent of all American employees go to work every day to a job they dislike. Why?

As standalone sound bites, the statements above are just that, but when you string them together they take on an entirely different context. Why are we pushing our children to get four-year college degrees when the majority of the current and future jobs will require an education level of a two-year degree or less? We all assume that a four-year college degree will be a badge of success, but for many, it will be a ball and chain that they will drag around with them for life.

We need to rethink the whole notion of higher education, its value, and who really needs it. Not everyone needs formal education after high school. We need to look at the career and academic planning processes used by our schools to make sure parents, students, and counselors really understand the educational and career landscape, their options, costs, and time frames. We need to make sure students know which careers match their personal attributes and encourage them to pursue careers in these areas. Students should understand the job market, which careers are in high demand, and which have longevity. Today's graduates will work over 50 years before they can retire. We need industry to step up and invest in more internship, job shadowing, and student sponsorship opportunities that target areas with high unemployment and high schools where students have been literally brainwashed since kindergarten that a four-year college was their only hope for success.

Finally, students need to understand the concept of a career pathway: starting with a two-year degree or diploma, gaining work experience, obtaining further education (preferably employer paid), taking on more responsibility within the workforce, making more money, and on it goes. It is called life-long learning. Remember, it does not matter what kind of degree you have or where it is from - if you have no experience, you start at the entry level position, as no one starts at the top. Therefore, target the minimum education needed in order to obtain an entry level job within a field that matches your personality and interests. Do not drink excessively from the student loan well, and do not over educate yourself.

The OverEducated Generation is a new organization founded by Steve Burleson in 2016. As a Technical College educator for 17 years and parent, Steve saw and experienced the mixed messages that confront our students, children, parents and educators, as they navigate the confusing, false promise ridden pathway to higher education.

Our Mission is to: "Educate everyone who needs to know the truth about academic & career pathways, the options available and where to find the "value" in the system. We will also push for reforms and accountability so our students will not have to mortgage their futures to have fulfilling careers. " EDUCATION IS OUR MAIN PURPOSE!

Through presentations / workshops & panel participation we spread our knowledge about the higher education pathways and how to leverage the system to provide the best, cost-effective academic & career solutions to our students. 1000's of students, parents and educators have heard our word and participated in our events.

Look around our website and if you have any comments, questions or opportunities, please feel free to contact us. We hope to see you again! Check back later for new updates to our website. The History of Brookhaven Calabro Airport

A recent visit to Brookhaven Calabro Airport, hidden behind a forest of trees and private homes and accessed by local Dawn Drive,, on a raw, late-March day whose steel wool sky was so low that it almost scratched you, revealed what was, but not necessarily what could be.

The ramp near Mid-Island Air Service was littered with mostly single-engine airplane types, punctuated by an occasional twin, and the almost unexpected sputter of an isolated propeller from a Cirrus SR-20 on this marginally visual flight rules (VFR) day cracked the silence like a hammer hitting a sheet of glass.

The blond brick structure at the field's north end, the once-proud classroom and training monolith of Dowling College's Aviation Education Center, stood frozen in time, promise of the past that failed to deliver the airport's future.

The lone, low-level, cement block terminal, staffed by a single monitorer of the facility's common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF), housed the equally shuttered luncheonette, nucleus, to a degree, of any general aviation airport, since it gave local and cross country pilots a destination and a purpose, and bore witness to numerous student pilot-instructor duos discussing airplane handling techniques over the years atop paper New York sectional charts doubling as tablecloths.

A glimpse into the rectangular room, which displayed a "Maintenance Shop" sign, revealed its former raison d'tre, sporting circular stools, a lunch counter, a cold cut slicer, and a rusting coffee maker. A recent inquiry indicated interest and its resurrection as an eatery. Perhaps it also indicated its repurposed future.

The non-towered, dual-runway, 795-acre, public use general aviation airport, one mile north of the business district of Shirley in eastern Long Island, Suffolk County, was owned by the Town of Brookhaven.

Originally designated Mastic Flight Strip, it was constructed at the end of World War II, in 1944, on 325 acres to provide logistical support for the US Army Air Corps, after which its title was transferred to New York State and ultimately Brookhaven Town's Division of General Aviation in 1961, current owner. Given its present "Calabro" moniker, it was named after Dr. Frank Calabro, who was instrumental in its development, but who, along with his wife, Ruth, met their untimely demises in an aircraft accident three decades later.

Construction and expansion yielded a rising crop of hangars, shops, fixed base operators (FBOs), the present terminal, and a second concrete runway to supplement the first in 1963.

Those, including 4,200-foot Runway 6-24 and 4,255-foot Runway 15-33, are both paved and lighted, but the latter features an instrument landing system (ILS), equipped and maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

$1.5 million of the collective $5 million in federal Department of Transportation (DOT) grants, most of which were earmarked for nearby Long Island MacArthur Airport in Islip, facilitated the recent beacon and taxiway lighting system replacements.

"We need to maintain runways, lights, structures, and navigational aids," according to Marten W. Haley, Brookhaven Town's Commissioner of General Services, which includes the airport itself. "Everything has a finite lifetime."

The airport's several fixed base operators and other tenants include Brookfield Aviation, Mid-Island Air Service, Northeast Air Park, Ed's Aircraft Refinishing, the Long Island Soaring Association, Island Aerial Air (for banner towing), NAASCO Northeast Corporation (which performs airplane and helicopter repair and overhaul), and Sky Dive South Shore.

Dowling College's School of Aviation, once the airport's cornerstone, but closed when the Oakdale-based university itself declared bankruptcy and ceased operations in 2016, had offered bachelor's degrees in Aerospace Systems Technology and Aviation Management, and had participated in the FAA Air Traffic Control Collegiate Training Initiative. A fleet of private pilot aircraft and Fiasca flight simulators had enabled its students to earn private, instrument, multi-engine, instructor (CFI), and commercial ratings.

Although the field has principally entailed general aviation flight activity, there have been a handful of other events throughout its history.

As the new base for the former, 44-passenger Swissair Convair CV-440 Metropolitans operated by Cosmopolitan Airlines from Farmingdale's Republic Airport and its self-named Cosmopolitan Sky Center after they had been transferred here, for example, they, along with a smattering of other types, offered junkets to Atlantic City's Bader Field.

The Grand Old Airshow, held in 2006 and 2007, was created to transport spectators to earlier, biplane and World War II eras and showcase Long Island aviation.

Having enticed visitors through flyers and its website, it had urged them to "join us this year as we go back in time to celebrate Long Island's Golden Age of Aviation," a time when "biplanes graced the skies decades ago." It continued its pitch by offering the experience of "bygone days of aviation, as World War I dogfights, open-cockpit biplanes, World War II fighters, and, of course, the famous Geico Skytypers, soar through Long Island's blue skies."

The shows themselves had featured antique vehicles and static aircraft displays, the latter encompassing TBM Avengers, Fokker Dr-1s, Nieuports, and Messerschmitt Me-109s, while aerial stunts had included comedy maneuvers performed in Piper J-3 Cubs by "randomly chosen" audience member Carl Spackle; Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome-borrowed Delsey Dives and balloon bursts targeted by Great Lakes Speedsters, Fleet 16Bs, and PT-17 Stearmans; speed races between runway-bound motorcycles and airborne, low-passing PT-17s; aerobatics by SF-260s; and skywriting by Sukhoi 29s.

A Sikorsky UH-34D Sea Horse Marine helicopter, used for combat rescue in Vietnam, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and by NASA during the Project Mercury astronaut recovery program, had demonstrated search-and-rescue procedures.

Both Long Island aviation and formation flying had also been well represented. Shows had featured Byrd, N3N, Fleet Model 16B, and N2S Stearman aircraft from the Bayport Aerodrome Society; P-40 Warhawks and P-51 Mustangs from Warbirds over Long Island; F4U Corsairs from the American Airpower Museum; and North American SNJ-2s from the Republic Airport-based Geico Skytypers.

Vintage vehicle and aircraft rides were available. Spectators brought their own lawn chairs and lined them up next to the active runway amid period dress and speeches given by Tuskegee Airmen. Concession trucks sold everything from hot dogs to ice cream and souvenirs and numerous aviation-related schools and associations established booths.

The Grand Old Airshow, held during two consecutive falls, was a single-day, single-visit, outdoor glimpse toward the sky where Long Island's multi-faceted aviation history was written and where it was recreated.

A 2008 a non-flying tribute to Vinny Nasta was also offered. A Riverhead High School art teacher who hailed from Wading River, he lost his life at 47 years of age when the reproduction Nieuport 24 he was flying at Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome nose-dove into the woods after its mock dogfight with another replica, of a Fokker Dr.1 Triplane, on August 17 of that year.

Dr. Tom Daley, a former Dowling College Dean of Aviation, Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome Air Show Director, and creator of the Brookhaven Grand Old Airshow, was forced to discontinue what had become an increasingly popular autumn event.

"There was some local opposition to the show," he said, "and everyone had their hand out. I was required to give x-number of dollars for security, x-number for emergency medical presence. I couldn't do it anymore. There was no way I could run an air show and meet expenses with expectations like that."

Today, Brookhaven Calabro Airport's 217 based aircraft, 92 percent of which are single-engine types, five percent of which are multi-engine, and three percent of which are gliders, provide most of its activity. For the 12-month period ending on March 25, 2005, there had been 135,100 annual airplane movements, or an average of 370 per day, and 99 percent of them belonged to the general aviation category, enabling student pilots to pursue licenses and practice weekday touch-and-go's at a non-towered airfield.

Hinging on this segment of aviation is its future.

How to Plan a Hunting Safari to South Africa

When planning a hunting trip anywhere there is many factors to take into consideration such as the proper seasons for the game that you wish to hunt, the different hunting guns and bows that you want o use and which seasons go paired with that. Accommodation at the proper lodges or if preferred camping trips at bounty full game Ranches. And lastly the permits that are needed when hunting big game if needed.

The seasons of hunting comes to when it is wet and when it is dry, this makes a big difference in hunting because of the watering hole aspect. Different styles for hunting can be used for both. Some hunters would like rather to use a bow but that would cut out the possibility of hunting thick skinned large animals such as elephant, white and black rhino, crocodile and so forth. Although some provinces do not allow bow hunting, the northern cape is one of the ones that do. Bows are usually more used when animals are gathered around the watering hole as it is easier to shoot from close range where the bow is most effective.

There are no automatic rifles allowed for hunting in South Africa as well as no weapon using a rim fire.22 or smaller caliber ammunition. No air guns are permitted for hunting with shotguns except in the case of birds. The minimum legal caliber to hunt South African dangerous game is 375, you are also allowed in most cases of big (dangerous) game you are to use other calibers that are larger. Always remember to in all instances to always make use of premium grade ammunition.

When it comes to permits the owners of the farm obtain permits to cover hunting on their property. There are spices that are listed as threatened or protected and permits are obtainable accordingly. The rules for hunting these animals apply to the listed species under the Biodiversity Act of 2004 and they are categorized accordingly.

Endangered: Tsessebe, Black Rhinoceros, Mountain Zebra, African wild dog, Oribi

Vulnerable: Cheetah, Samango monkey, Bontebok, Roan antelope, Suni, Leopard, Blue duiker

Protected: White Rhinoceros, Black Wildebeest, Spotted Hyaena, Black-footed cat, Brown Hyaena, Serval, Elephant, Sharpe's grysbok, Reedbuck, Cape fox.

Hunting on the southern tip of Africa has always, just in the rest of the world been very popular, maybe even a little bit more. The vast difference in climates as well as the great diversity of spices that are on offer allow for year around hunting. But more so the beautiful landscapes that the hunting is done on make it a worthwhile experience even if that trophy you seek escapes your grasp.

Hunting for SPRINGBOK

Today we will be discussing the National animal of South Africa, the Springbok. We give you great hunting tips as well as some background of this magnificent antelope. This is one of the more challenging animals to hunt, and it will challenge every hunting skill you got! Here is what you need to know:

Background

The Springbok gets its name from its characteristic jumping display. "Spring", meaning jump and "bok", meaning antelope, in Afrikaans. The Springbok also has 4 color variants, namely the Common Springbuck, Copper Springbuck, White Springbuck and the Black Springbuck. It is a medium-sized antelope that inhabit the dry areas of southern and southwestern Africa. They are herbivores and can survive without drinking water for years. It gets most of its water requirements through the vegetation that it eats. They are highly social animals and move around in large herds.

Trophies

The biggest difference between a male and a female are the horns. The horns of the ram are much larger and thicker, especially towards the base. Rams are also built much bigger, making it easy for the hunter to differentiate between the two. Solitary males are usually good trophies.

A Springbok can reach speeds of up to 90 km/h (56 mph), making them one of the top 10 fastest land animals in the world.

Hunting Tips

The Springbok has exceptional eyesight and are difficult to get close to if they sense you first, making it a really challenging hunt that will test all your stalking skills, as well as your long range shots. You will most probably be forced to take a shot well over 300 yards. The best method for success is to catch the Springbok by surprise by either lying and waiting for it to pass by or by walking slowly through cover, if there is any. Due to their alert nature, one can spend several hours trying to get close enough to get a shot. They are very curious animals and often patience will draw them closer. The perfect shot placement will be behind the shoulder, one third of the way up from the chest. The best time of the year to hunt Springbok in South Africa are between April and October.

When deciding on the perfect rifle and caliber, any good long shooting caliber like the.243.270s, 30.06 s. 7 mm &.300 Magnums are good choices especially for the distance aspect of the shot.

The Rowland Ward Minimum for a Springbok is 14 inches, and the record is 20 inches. The SCI Gold entry is 38 a inches.

The Springbok is one of Africa's most spectacular animals. Its absolute beauty will leave you in awe. Very few hunters have the privilege to say that they have taken the Springbuck Grand Slam (all 4 color variations). Be sure to put this one down on your list for your next hunting Safari.

Go Bushwalking in the Blue Mountains

Only two hours west of the bustling metropolitan city that is Sydney lies an oasis of nature known as the Blue Mountains. Listening to a kookaburra above you in a sprawling, ancient blue gum tree, taking in views from treacherous cliffs and ravines that could put the Grand Canyon to shame, this World Heritage listed site makes for a great day trip from the city. To really experience it, however, stay at least a few nights and enjoy some hiking- or bushwalking, in the words of the locals.

The Blue Mountains are a bushwalker's paradise. There is something to suit everyone's level of fitness and trails are well-marked, ranging from short one or two kilometre walks, up to the Six Foot Track, a strenuous three-day hike from Katoomba to the Jenolan Caves.

There's many great resources online for finding walks, so I won't try to replicate. Instead, have a look here:

• Bluemts.com.au
• Visitnsw.com

If, after some consideration, the thought of trekking through the bush in a steep, mountainous environment doesn't appeal to you, fear not; the villages of Katoomba, Leura, or Blackheath are full of cosy cafes for putting your feet up with a tea (or something stronger).

The Blue Mountains encompass a vast area of land, but most visitors will make the town of Katoomba their first port of call. From Sydney's center, Katoomba is best reached from Central Station, along the Blue Mountains Line. Your Opal card will get you there, as the mountains are part of Sydney's train network, and will set you back between $5-$10, depending on time of day, and two hours of your time.

If you're driving, Katoomba is easy to access from the Great Western Highway and parking can usually be found.

Bushwalking Safety Tips

While bushwalking is safe for adults and children alike, it is worth bearing in mind a few safety tips before setting off, especially if you are not an experienced hiker.

• Always let someone know where you are heading and when you expect to return. To help with this, check in with National Park Service and they will loan you, at no cost, a Personal Locator Beacon, with GPS. If you don't return by a set time, they can use this to find you- while hopefully it won't come to that, it's reassuring to have that peace of mind.

• The weather in the mountains can quickly change, from rain to cold to sweltering heat, so check a detailed forecast before setting off. It can vary wildly from Sydney's weather, so check online here before heading out.

• Follow the marked trail signs and stay on the trail, for your own safety, and don't underestimate the trail ratings. More advanced trails might require you to rock climb or traverse uneven or difficult terrain, so stick within your comfort level. The National Park Service and information centers can provide maps and recommend which walks would best suit your level.

• Take along basic first-aid supplies, such as bandages for blisters or cuts, aspirin, as well as the basics: plenty of water, a wide-brimmed hat, sunscreen, camera, and well-worn-in shoes.

After you (and your aching legs) have had their fill of walking, there is plenty more to see and do to occupy your time in the mountains. If you haven't seen it yet, make time to check out The Three Sisters, an unusual rock formation located in Katoomba, the main township of the Blue Mountains. Aboriginal legend tells that three sisters were turned to stone to protect them from unwanted male attention from a nearby tribe, and they remain there to date.

While stunning on any clear day, the Three Sisters are especially breathtaking at late afternoon or early evening light. Come to think of it, this is a great time for photography generally in Australia.

While in Katoomba, check out the vintage shops, cafes, and restaurants and the art-deco architecture, or pop into the Carrington Hotel for a cocktail. From the outside, this hotel has a foreboding resemblance to the Overlook Hotel, a la the Shining, but the interior has been painstakingly restored to the turn-of-the-century Victorian style of its heyday.

Scenic World, although touristy, is worth a visit. The Scenic Railway takes you down (and up) from the visitor center to the forest below, and the Scenic Skyway is an incredible way to see the mountains from above (although probably not for the faint-hearted or those who have a fear of gondola cables snapping).

The 5 Essential Qualities of All Great Cult Films

It can be difficult to nail down what exactly makes cult films cultish. For every person who enjoys one cult film, there is another who would argue against its status. Perhaps the ambiguity of the definition is the beauty of these popular, unpopular films. Regardless of the lack of consensus as to what makes a film fall under the heading of cult film, there are a few qualities these films do possess.

1. The film has a large following.

First, and perhaps most importantly, cult films have large followings. And a following of such a cinematic piece must comprise more than just a big fan base: the following must be somewhat fanatical. Generally, the films will boast movie festivals centered entirely around the one film. Large numbers of fans will dress as characters from the movie and will devote large portions of their life to the cinematic piece. A following denotes that many fans will watch the movie repeatedly with other fans. Some theaters will advertise special showings of the film with a theme dedicated to the film. A few movie theaters have been known to serve food and drink in relation to the film. In short, these popular movies have a dedicated fan base that pledge an odd sort of allegiance to the film itself.

2. The film breaks cultural taboos.

At the time of release, cult films usually tend to shock and outrage the general population. Addressing politically incorrect themes and/or incorporating shocking themes is a tell-tale mark of these fanatically-received pieces. Many of these movies could possibly fall under the heading of "transgressive art." Basically, such pieces of "art" cause audience members to question accepted morals and values. Many such films contain a certain element of shock and are produced purely for the shock value.

3. The film has quotable lines.

Fans love to participate in the viewing of cult films, generally by either quoting along, or quoting the film after in different social settings. A great classic will contain many one-liners that are quippy, original and comedic out-of-context. Fans will often quote the film to each other and base the other person's knowledge and dedication on the ability of that person to respond quickly with another line.

4. The film appeals to a subculture.

This is somewhat debatable, but many followers of such movies claim that these classics must subvert mainstream tastes. In other words, the general population should not find a cult classic immediately lovable or popular at the time of release. Instead a smaller portion of the population will retrospectively love the film for various reasons.

5. The film has initially flopped if released by a major studio.

Again, popular films, released by mainstream studios generally do not qualify for the "cult classic" status. If a film has been released by a larger, well-known studio, the film must first perform poorly at the box office before it can even be considered to enter the cannon of cult films. Another interesting facet includes the serious nature of the film. If a film is released with the intention that it eventually become a cult classic, then it cannot thus qualify. A genuine film with a cult following must be produced because somebody believed in it as a genuine movie from the beginning.
