You Are All Cars: An Inspiring Commencement Speech in Class

Think that all of you are cars heading from Point A to Point B. You are now in Level 3, Point A, and you want to reach your destination that is Level 4, your Point B.

Some of you are fully charged, meaning the battery is full, fuel is to the brim, tires are inflated just with the right amount of air, and water is enough to complete the journey. Others are cars unchecked but assumed to last the journey. Maybe they have fuel but unsure as to when it can last. The batteries, tires, and water are also left unchecked. Yet, the journey has to go on.

The travel is long. There are lots of dangers along the way: men at work, road is slippery, curves are dangerous, and cars are speeding. Sometimes, the roads are too congested to make a smooth drive. In class, you encounter the same. While men focus on their road work, students care for what they do, NOT you. Their sign is a raised open palm. I don't care what you do - mind your own business. If you want to study, then study. And if I play my gadgets, don't mind me. That's none of your business.

The road is slippery. Your class journey at times makes you slip or become out of focus. The lessons, your class, or your teachers can turn you off, turn you cold, or weaken your interest, and so you look around, use your phone or even sleep. These bring you sheer distractions.

Quizzes, homework, and exams are curves. You have to pay attention as they can directly put you in danger. Be very careful. Study well. Keep yourself safe when you are on the curves as they can throw you off the road and end your journey halfway.

Fast-paced schedules in other skills you are taking up are speeding cars. They all try to outrun you. You have to keep track, otherwise you will stumble on them, lose your balance and see yourself off track. With other skills that you need to learn, your academic journey is too congested but manageable to proceed. Just be very careful that you don't bump with other important things whether good or bad. A few to mention are attendance, proper haircut and uniform, attitude problem, peer pressure as they can put an end to your journey.

Finally, if you give heed to all these things, you can define your academic journey now. It is your decision and within all your power to continue your journey from Level 3 to Level 4. As your instructor, I am the wind to lead you there. I am hoping to push you as much as I can. And when you reach your destination, I will transform myself into the man holding up the banner, waving at the finish line.

Have a safe journey, everyone.

Learning is a journey from point A to point B. As learner, you are the driver of your own car. You should give heed to the road signs, curves, bumps and all those things that may slow you down. But don't get distracted, know your focus and carry on until you reach your destination.
