There are zillions of planets in the vast expanse of the universe. Scientists believe that some of these planets are inhabited so earth is not the only planet that is inhabited in this universe. The curiosity over the universe, space and the planets have caused many people to write stories on them. The following are the best 5 space stories.

1. A Trip to Venus by John Munro (1897)

A Trip to Venus is a storybook published back in the 1897. At that time, no one knows that rocket can be used to travel between planets. The technology that is discussed in the book is based on anti gravity mechanism which is contrary to the use of combustion to power rocket in today's technology. It talks about how the people view space and earth in the 19th century. It also talks about the culture, races of aliens that inhabit the planet Venus and their way of life.

2. Triplanetary (1891)

Triplanetary talks about an amphibious alien species called Nevian who comes from a planet that is a few light years away from the sun. Their planet has not enough iron so they have set out to procure more. The Nevians attacked the pirate fleet led by Gray Roger. They extract the atom in the ship led by Gray Roger and convert them into red liquid which they use to power their ships. Next, they head to earth and do the same thing to Pittsburgh city. The human created another ship called Boise based on the Nevian technology. Roger was ultimately defeated by a Patrol and 3 persons were taken into captivity by the Nevians.

3. A Plunge into Space by Robert Cromie (1890)

A Plunge into Space is about Henry Barnett who succeeded in finding out the way to control ethereal force after 2 decades. Barnett invented a large globular spaceship called Steel Globe. The Steep Globe spaceship is being secretly hidden in a hard to reach area in Alaska. Barnett and his friends take a trip to Mars with the globular spaceship. According to the storyline, the Martians also have spaceships and that the Martians exercise animal electricism.

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke (1987)

An alien race utilizes a device that has a crystalline monolith to carry out investigation in the galaxy. The device encourages these worlds to have intelligent lives. For example, it encourages the development of tools by the ancient people in Africa 3 millions years ago. The story follows Dr. Heywood Floyd who discover a large black slab. The slab releases a radio transmission that is directing towards Jalapetus moon of Saturn.

5. The Crack in Space by Philip K. Dick (1966)

The Crack in Space sets in 2080 when the world is facing over population problem and shortage of job. Many people have chosen to be put in cryopreservation until the overpopulation problem comes to an end. Then, they thought they discover a solution which is a portal to a parallel earth. However, later, they discover that the parallel world has been inhabited by homo erectus. Some of the issues that the novel explores are economic and political justice, increase of life span, and transhumanism. Space short story often has storyline that talks about UFO coming to attack earth. It could also talk about spaceship sent from earth that have found intelligent alien life when they are exploring in space. By reading stories in this genre, you will be able to improve your knowledge on the space.
