I'm a New Creation
Reading:2 Peter 1:3-10
A Year Reading:Genesis 10-12
Nas:His divine power has bestowed upon us everything useful for a godly life by our introduction to Him.... (2 Peter 1:3)
Can someone who is tech-stuttering aka blind to the introduction of smart electronic devices get the most out of the tools? Is it possible that someone who doesn't know a famous actor will ask for time to take pictures with him when he meets him? Of course not, because the requirements of knowing are not met.
The Apostle Peter advised the congregation to grow in their knowledge of God (v. 8). If people do not know God well and deeply, their Christian life will not be optimal. Why? Because the potential given by God is not used or just wasted. What potential? The potential to grow and be a blessing to anyone. The potential to have faith, virtue, knowledge, self-mastery, perseverance, and righteousness that in turn enables a person to love one's brethren and fellow human beings (vv. 5-7).
The point of reading and meditating on God's words is for us to know Him better. Knowing Him will make us love Him. In addition, by knowing God, we know ourselves better. Recognize the potential God has given us to live a noble life and glorify Him. Do not believe if our surroundings, our own experiences or consciences accuse us of being bad, weak, and useless. Instead, believe what God says about us. In Christ, we are newly created human beings, good, potential, and able to benefit (cf. Ef. 2:10). Live up to that potential! -PAD
So, whoever is in Christ, he is a new creation.
