Perhaps, we should consider leadership, from a perspective, similar to one, which, a Jedi, would, and examine, the expression, Let the force be with you! How else, might we explain, how often, two, seemingly, similarly equipped, and motivated individuals, experience, such diametrically - opposed results, where one ends up, being a great leader, while, the other, merely, at best, a pseudo - leader, or a member of the rest - of - the - pack? With that in mind, this article will attempt, to briefly, consider, examine, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, why the FORCE, is such a dynamic element, of quality, effective, meaningful, relevant, and inspiring leadership.
1. Face facts; fruition; future: How can anyone, make any type of significant change, for the better, until/ unless, he stops, burying, his head, in the sand, and proactively, faces the facts, and proceeds, in a realistic, rational manner? Measure a leader's success, not by his promises, rhetoric, or even planning, but, rather, by whether he is able to transform ideas to action, and brings quality changes, to fruition! True leadership necessitates, avoiding acceptance of the restriction of one's comfort zone, and/ or the obstacles of the present, but, rather persists, to look at viable solutions, which address current needs and challenges, as well as the best course, into the future!
2. Options; opportunities; originality: Many pseudo - leaders, appear to believe, they can merely, use the same - old, same - old ideas, plans, and paths, when there is a need for a degree of originality, in order to combine the time - tested approaches, with necessary changes! When one proceeds, with an open - mind, and considers options and alternatives, he positions himself, to recognize the best opportunities, and becomes, the quality, force, for meaningful change!
3. Relevant; reliable; responsive: Leading must not be, merely, about, either, appearing, busy, or even being so, in an irrelevant way, but, rather, proceeding, in a manner, which focuses on relevant needs, goals, and priorities. One's planning must be, both, reliable (actually, as well as perceived), and, consistently, responsive to his organization's needs, and those of his constituents.
4. Character; clever; creative: We need leaders, to be, individuals, with quality character, who prioritize, the common good, rather than their self - interest, or personal agenda! One must be clever, and creative, in order, to earn the attention, and respect, of one's potential followers!
5. Empathetic; energetic; emphasis; excellence: How can anyone, get it done, unless he proceeds, with the utmost degree of genuine empathy, combined, with an inspiring degree of energy, and a consistent emphasis, on excellence, and achieving positive objectives?
Will you become the FORCE of quality leadership? Will you persist, while others, become satisfied, with the same - old, same - old?
